Once Upon A Time When I Had Hair!


        
     Hi Guen. Well here I am with in my very first band. You can 
tell it was a while ago-look at the bell bottom pants! And look 
at all that funny fuzzy stuff all over my head! I wonder what it 
is?  We were playing at Zellerbach Auditorium in Berkeley, 
California. During all the ruckus someone took my photo. You can 
see the drummer holding up two drum sticks right behind me. To the 
left and behind the drums you can see a red thing with a black box 
on top and some little electrical gadgets on top of that. That is 
one of the things that my bass guitar was plugged into. The other 
is out of sight on the right.  I was the composer for the group 
and the picture shows me playing bass guitar. WOW I sure was 
skinny! On the right you can see two things with lots of knobs.  
Those were for the other two guitar players. We also had a person 
who played keyboards and a person to sing lead vocals.It was a 
pretty big band when we had everything there and we could fill a 
whole stage with stuff. But is was fun and lots of people would 
come to watch us play.  I was getting my degree in mathematics 
then at the University of California at Berkeley, and playing music 
at the same time. Later on I got a REAL JOB and could pursue 
composing as I always wished. So now I work with a computer 
company and continues to compose at home.


     In your special birthday gift box is a tune I have composed 
all for you Guen. I don't think it is your style of music yet at the 
time the thought came to me I was in a very good mood. So it just 
sort of turned out kind of dancy. A friend of mine said it sounded 
like a sound track for a movie. And that's ok, because composing 
for movies would be a lot of fun to do in the future. But this is 
my special little gift from me to you. The music is very similar 
to the style of music I used to compose for the group. Yet now I do 
all my composing more like real professional composers, at home 
in my studio. Oh by the way, can you tell who the singer is? In the 
photo you can see a microphone just to my right. HA HA!   

     I have wonderful news! I have finally saved up enough for the 
trip!  I only need to schedule my vacation time now. So keep a 
song in your heart and a smile on your face Guen. We  will be 
seeing each other soon darling.
