Hello Bebie!!!!!!


     You just can't imagine how wonderful it was to receive your 
phone call the other evening. I was just finishing up rebuilding 
the studio when the phone rang and there you were. It was such a 
great surprise and a real pleasure. Bebie you sound really great 
on the phone. You have a marvelous voice. It was really great that 
you called on a night when I was home. I knew you were going to 
call but I didn't know when. Wow it was really good luck that we 
made the connection. I just can't get over how nice it was to hear 
from you. There was an awful lot of noise on the telephone line 
and I must admit that you were very hard to hear. I had thought 
that if you called back once more that it might be easier to hear 
you. Yet even the second call was just as noisy. Oh well, the 
message came through loud and clear that you are thinking of me 
here in Crockett and I really appreciate the time that you took to 
make the call.

     I'm really glad that you liked the tape that I sent to you. I 
had to use the word Mindanao at the beginning because Agusan Del 
Norte just didn't fit the rhythm. Even though the lyrics are very 
simple I changed them a few times before I settled on the ones on 
the tape. Anyway, the song represents two things. One is our 
wonderful friendship. You were my inspiration on the tune. You 
have such a great attitude, a good mind, and just such a nice 
disposition all the time, that I thought it was fitting to write 
you a little tune. The other aspect is that the tune was sort of 
an experiment with some new instruments that were purchased 
recently. I was getting a bit used to them an even now have 
learned more since the time I did your tune. Ever onwards and 
upwards. Well some of the latest developments are very 
interesting. I've been contacted by a lot of people recently 
having to do with the use of computers and music. The people are 
usually quite interesting and creative and we share a lot of fun 
ideas.As it turns out the studio that here is becoming quite 
substantial. The primary goal is the production of dance music, or 
rock to the point that I can have a product that will sell and be 
pressed into records or digital disks, with all the major 
production happening right here at home. Working at home is a lot 
of fun.It's a comfortable, creative environment where I can work 
on a new idea at any time. And besides if I get hungry I can just 
go to the kitchen and make a sandwich! It was very interesting 
reading the questionnaire that you filled out. It reminded me that 
you had experience in computer science. Wow, that is really great! 
Here at home are two computers that talk to each other. All the 
instruments are connected to them through a pretty intricate 
network. So when a tune is played the computers keep track of 
everything that is happening. When part is finished the 
P.C.(personal Computer) plays the instrument back just the way it 
was  played originally. From there ,all the aspects of the tune, 
from notation, volume of each key stroke, and the exact timing of 
each instrument can be displayed on the p.c.. Later, the piece can 
be edited just like a magazine article. It's the way modern 
compositions are done.  The instruments played are called 
synthesizers. That is because they are used to reproduce whatever 
sound that can be imagined, from horns, guitars,drums or anything 
else, as long as there is  enough skill to know how to do it. When 
you see a movie that has lots of nice music and special sounds. 
All that is done in studios similar to the one at home here. And 
all that nice music and fancy sound is created by artists using 
synthesizers and computers who are hired by the movie company. It 
is all that music and sound that stirs the heart during a romantic 
scene, or brings the thrill and suspense to a good adventure 
movie. In the future I would like to pursue a Masters Degree in 
Electronic Music. I already have a a four year degree in 
mathematics( which is a prerequisite for the Masters Degree) and 
experience with computer applications in the music field. It 
really seems like fun. Hey, and maybe one day it will even pay 
off! Who knows. The adventure is the doing. It's just the fun of 
the art that is the big attraction            


     Anyway, enough about that stuff. It's spring time again and 
the flowers are in bloom. Birds are singing and building nests 
outside the kitchen window. Their happy singing is driving my 
kitty cat crazy! She sits at the window and swings here head back 
and forth as they birdies fly around collecting things for the 
little nest. The nest is high up off the ground though, so kitty  
can't get to it. I think that soon mamma and papa birdie will soon 
be feeding the young ones.  It will be fun to watch them grow up.

     Bebie, it is a real pleasure to write to you. I am still in 
the process of forming vacation plans. And seeing you is a big 
plan for my vacation. I think this may be my last time to Asia and 
the Philippines for any extended length of time, so I want to do 
some travelling around a bit while the opportunity is here. Though 
I will be planning to spend at least a week visiting with you. 
Well, at least I can stay in a place close by where we can meet 
and go on adventures. It will be a real pleasure to meet your 
family and friends. We can go wherever we feel like going. And you 
don't have to plan anything special. Just being together will be 
fun enough. I can have fun doing just about anything. So you don't 
have to think about making a lot of plans. We can just be 
spontaneous and do whatever comes to mind each day. Just seeing 
you and your family will be wonderful enough. And it will be a 
great pleasure for me to fly to Mindanao to visit you. As I 
mentioned, my trip will start at around the beginning of june. I 
may even make a stop in Thailand for a few days. I hear that the 
mountains are really beautiful there. But I have to call a travel 
agent and find out how much things will cost. I may even take a 
few extra days longer on my trip than are currently planned. So 
far I have about one month to travel around. Yet I can take up to 
five weeks. Exact plans will depend on cost and flight schedules. 
I love the Philippines. I can't wait to return. But most 
importantly, I am really looking forward to seeing you Bebie. You 
are a truly wonderful woman. I love every letter that you have 
written to me. And thank you again for taking the time to fill out 
the questionnaire. Everything that you said in the answers was 
just perfect. It was really nice to read. Thank you once again.  
It will be a true pleasure and honour to meet you in your 
homeland.  


     Anyway, you won't believe what time it is now. I worked a lot 
of overtime last night, And even though I returned home early in 
the morning I just had to take the time to write to you. The sun 
is coming up and the clock reads just before seven am! Wow!
