InfoBoot v1.00
Copyright ©1996 Edward Farrow
Introduction...
InfoBoot is a CLI/Shell application that was designed to be used at the
boot up of your computer (however, there is no reason for not using it
as a normal program).
InfoBoot displays system information at the startup of your machine,
due to certain routines in InfoBoot, it requires Workbench 2.04+
However, if InfoBoot detects you are running Workbench 1.3 then it will
run but in a 'lower' mode.
Here are a few features of InfoBoot...
· Display the date in a readable form (no more 31-11-1996).
· Display the time in 24hour and 12 hour forms.
· Display Kickstart and Display types.
· Automaticly senses Workbench 1.3, displays only Kickstart and
display type.
· Small, Fast and reliable (100% bug free?)
Legal Jargon/Disclaimer
Disclaimer:
I hereby reject any liability or responsibility for anything that may
arise from the usage of InfoBoot and acompanying files. InfoBoot has been
tested and runs fine on several machines, I cannot however garuntee that
InfoBoot is fully working with your equipment.
InfoBoot is provided "AS-IS" with no warrenty implied. You use InfoBoot
at your own risk and can not hold anyone else responsible for any problem
that arises through use/misuse of InfoBoot and/or its acompanying files.
Distribution:
InfoBoot is CARDWARE. You may freely distribute and copy it as long as
the following conditions are followed...
1) All of the program, documentation and acompanying files MUST be
complete, unmodified and distributed together. Distributing
incomplete or modified versions is forbidden.
2) If you use InfoBoot regulary then you must send me a postcard of your
hometown or (in America, you may send me your local newspaper - see
contacts).
3a) PD Companies wishing to distribute InfoBoot as part of their library
or catalogue disk must send me a copy of the disk or a written
letter informing me.
3b) CD-Roms/Magazines wishing to distribute InfoBoot as part of their
collection, please let me know in writing before doing so. This does
not include Aminet CDs and Fred Fish CDs.
I feel that these distribution rules are fair, and I would be grateful if
you would conform to them.
Installation...
Included with-in the InfoBoot directory is a script called "Install" it
requires the Commodore "Installer" program to run (available from the
Aminet). When using 'Install' I recommend selecting 'Expert' at the prompt.
Manual installation can be done as follows...
Copy the 'InfoBoot' executable to where you wish to install it!
Using InfoBoot...
InfoBoot is a CLI/Shell command so it runs from CLI/Shell (obviously). It
does not need any parameters, just type 'InfoBoot'.
If you wish InfoBoot to show up everytime you boot your Amiga(tm), then
edit your 'S:Startup-sequence' and before the computer has done anything
else, add the line (right at the start).
InfoBoot
i.e. C:InfoBoot
Its as simple as that!
To run InfoBoot on Workbench 1.2 or 1.3 type; InfoBoot WB13
This will run InfoBoot in a lower operating mode.
