To meet him, you must complete the game with a 2-0 win record against all your opponents (you do not need to have "perfect" wins however). If you lose a match, just have someone join in and beat him/her with a 2-0 record and continue on. Switching between 1P and 2P is also allowed, provided the continuing player wins 2-0. To USE Ryo, reach him (save the game at this point to make using him later easier) and beat him (beating him required?) Then wait for the demo-mode fights to begin. After it says "FIGHT", enter the following on the left controller: Up Left Down Right Up A Up Right Down Left Up C You should hear Ryo's taunt ("Ora! Ora!"). Now press Start and select 1P vs 2P (you may not use him in a 1P vs COM game). Ryo's picture should now be available, in the lower right next to Krauser. His special moves are listed on the move listing. Also, if you take a look in the background, Micky, Todo, Lee, and John, (all from Art of Fighting) make little cameos. Todo is in the dead center of the background, Micky, Lee and John are up in the trees. The above procedure is for the home game, is selection of Ryo possible in the arcade version? (someone posted a long time back of walking into HK arcades and everybody using him.) ______________________________________________________________________ You Saw What? Things to keep an eye out for in each stage: Big Bear: - the trailer design changes from "BIG BEAR" (FF2) to "SPECIAL" (FFS) - a guy who looks suspiciously like Joe Higashi yelling with a megaphone. (by truck cab) - Kim Kaphwan flying in the background. (!) Billy Kane: - Laundry appears on round 4. (Remember his hobby?) Jubei Yamada: - Screen paintings change from tigers (FF2) to women (FFS) - Screen paintings change to his name in round 4 (Yama-Da-Ju-bei-i) Kim Kaphwan: - Kim's wife & kids in the background. - Snowfall in round 3 (changes back in round 4) - Once in a while (1/256 chance) chicks pass by instead of scooter. - Once in a while (1/128 chance) old guy on scooter jets across the screen in one tenth of a second. Cheng Shin Zan: - Cheng's boat sinks in round 4. Geese Howard: - Floor color changes between rounds. Duck King: - Dancers replaced by dancin' ducks! in round 4. Joe Higashi: - Sillouhette appears in lake, women turn & bow in round 4. Terry Bogard: - Kim makes a fly-by when the timer hits 20 in round 4. Andy Bogard: - Terry & Mai sometimes appear in background. - Chicks run in background, 2 for each round #. - In round 4, if the ten-thousands digit is 0, the guy on the scooter will ride off the canal ledge and over the water! If you're playing against a human opponent this will work if the sum of both players ten-thousands digit is 0 or 16. Axel Hawk: - Billboard explodes in round 4. Chick appears in corner. Mai Shiranui: - Some guy (looks like Hanzoh from World Heroes) "surfs" by on a fish. Laurence Blood: - Sometimes chicks fly by. - 120 bulls run by in a minute. (count 'em! =^) Tung Fu Rue: - If Duck fights & wins here, a chick pops out from one of the holes in the background. Wolfgang Krauser: - Nothing really, but a 60 piece orchestra! You gotta love this guy. Other Happenings: - Ducks burst out of broken barrels and baskets. - In Mai's score, AAB,Bxx, if AA+BB=59 when she loses, she will fall in an explosion of fans. Likewise, Jubei will "lose his cookies" (senbei) under the same condition. the pattern 005,9xx as well as 015,8xx (01+58=59) will work. ______________________________________________________________________ Music 'n' Sounds Pause the game and enter A B C D A for a sound test. Soundtracks: These CDs are only available in Japan. If you want to get one or more, you have these options: 1) find someone in or going to Japan. 2) order through an importer. With the latter, your success will vary depending on where you live. Check Iain Sinclair's BGM listing (also available on netcom) as several sources are listed (not to mention soundtracks from many other games.) At the very last resort, check with a videogame importer, many do bring in soundtracks but tend to charge an arm and a leg (four to five times the cover price isn't surprising.) Soundtracks include just about every sound effect, voice, and BGM in the game. Each row is then tallied up to get the totals and thus the rankings. I present these here as information for the curious as ultimately a character is only as good as the person using him/her. But if you use it to pick the character you wish to use, then so be it.
