The Primal Rage Strategy Guide (For PR version 2.3) v0.5 (4-11-94) By: Todd Sinclair (todd.sinclair@dobbs.uucp.netcom.com or Ace@community.net) Yes, Primal Rage 2.3 is here... and it is completely different. The whole game has been slowed down, and the combo system reworked. A lot of the old combos do not work due to the changes made. All characters do around half as much damage as in version 1.7, while you get lots more energy for eating worshippers (meaning player-player matches should be more interesting). The computer also fights totally different. There's a lot of changes... enough so that almost every single strategy listed in the previous Guide is no longer valid. Hence, the Primal Rage 2.3 Strategy Guide! Remember, this is for Primal Rage 2.3... these cheats aren't guaranteed to work anyway, but using them on a version 1.7 machine will probably result in you losing. The game is that different. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This Guide may not be reprinted, split up, rewritten, or otherwise mangled by anyone without giving full credit to me. This goes for you, your brother, you friend, your mom, and most importantly, for ** EGM **. Yes, we know what you did EGM. I am making it clear right now that I do not want ANY of this appearing in an EGM magazine like the Killer Instinct FAQ did. In fact, if you're an EGM employee, just stop reading right now. It will help you to resist the temptation of plagarism. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -------------- Contents -------------- i. Revision History ------------------------------------------------------------------------ v0.5 - The FAQ has FINALLY been released, so this Guide is back to Strategy only. Also finished up Talon. v0.4 - More interesting stuff, Talon fine-tuning, and the Sauron Stomp v0.35 - A little bit of stuff for Chaos and Diablo, the 4th color set, and the Mini-FAQ section. v0.3 - More Talon stuff, added how to change colors and started a combo list until I get in touch with the FAQ writers v0.2 - More stuff, mostly on Talon v0.1 - First version, not much. Initial obvious changes from PR 1.7, some vague general strategies and things to watch out for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.1 Intro : What is Primal Rage? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ One of the newest fighting games out, using stop-motion animation of real models for the characters. If you don't know what it is, though, you shouldn't be reading this. Go read the FAQ, or check out the WWW Primal Rage FAQ (see section 4 for info on obtaining them). Then, get a bunch of quarters and go to your local arcade. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.2 What is the Primal Rage Strategy Guide? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Guide is an effort to make the game playable for new players. The computer is extremely pattern-based, so it is quite easy to defeat once you master the patterns (cheezes?) with a certain character. This usually results in the difficulty being set at the highest level, where you make one mistake and the computer will pummel you with combos taking half your energy in less than a couple seconds. By listing out all the strategies against the computer, and the computer's general playing style, the Guide should make it possible for even a new player to at least put up a fight, and let the rest of us see those endings without knowing someone who works at the arcade. And remember... it's only Cheezy if it's against a human! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.3 Why are there 2 Primal Rage Strategy Guides (and what's the difference?) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are two major versions of Primal Rage. The other Strategy Guide was for Primal Rage version 1.7. This one is for Primal Rage version 2.3, which was just recently released. You can tell which version you have by watching the main screen. If it says 'version 2.3', then it's version 2.3. If it says nothing above the title, push up on the left joystick and down on the right joystick. It should say 'version 1.7' in small green letters right above the title. That machine is version 1.7. Got it? The difference between the two versions is huge, playwise. The computer fights completely different, the characters do less damage, the whole game has been slowed down, and the combo system re-worked. Most old combos no longer work, or do negligable damage. So, the older Guide (1.7) will not work on version 2.3 machines. That's why this one was created. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.1 Not-so-special moves and combos. (Stuff not in the FAQ, but needed for survival) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The buttons are the same as the FAQ : 1 2 3 4 Useful Air Combos [AC's] ------------------------ These are good mini-combos for getting multiple hits (and more damage) in air battles. They're here so I can refer to them in the rest of the Guide by name and not have to explain what it is each time, as these are the key to beating some of the computer players. They're also good for starting jumping combos, as the two hits will connect before you land on the ground, hardly changing the moves in the combo but adding an extra hit. ARMADON description Name in Guide ------- | | 2, 1+2, (double horn in the air) [Double Horn AC] ( + Hornication Uppercut? worked in 1.7) BLIZZARD -------- 3+4, Air Throw (Downward Punch, Air Throw) [Punch-Throw AC] CHAOS ----- ?? DIABLO ------ ?? SAURON ------ 3+4, Air Throw (Tail-whack, Air Throw) [Tail-Throw AC] TALON ----- 3, 1+2 (jumpkick, Claw Rake) [Kick-Slash AC] or: 4, 1+2 (2% more damage, less reach?) 2, 1+2 (small claw rake, large claw rake) [Claw Rake AC] VERTIGO ------- 1, 1+2 (small bite, strong bite) [Double Bite AC] 4, 3+4 (low tail, straight tail) [Double Tail AC] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.1 Character Changes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ +---------+ | ARMADON | +---------+ All you Armadon players will probably like the new Armadon. While all the characters do less damage, Armadon is still a tank... problem is, he moves like one too. Don't bother walking with him, you can't get anywhere. His tail spikes move has been speeded up enough so that it's usable in combos, as have most of his moves. His Rushing Uppercut now throws the opponent high into the air, and Armadon recovers fast enough to hit them on the way down. His Iron Maiden has been changed, starting out as a normal jump - once he's above you, though, he turns over and crashes to the ground, making it a little harder to detect and dodge. +----------+ | Blizzard | +----------+ Well, he seems a little faster. Both freeze moves have a MUCH shorter freeze time, meaning you better get over there fast if you wanna hit anything. As with Armadon, he walks a bit slower, but with being able to do a Hop Jump against the computer, moving isn't too much of a problem. The main thing I dislike about him is the joystick response seems VERY sluggish while playing him. It may be just me or this machine, however. +---------+ | CHAOS | +---------+ Again, Chaos seems to be a much-improved character. His Battering Ram has been changed so that you get launched forward more. The result is that, like Armadon's Rushing Uppercut, you can juggle the opponent on the way down. A Battering Ram, double-uppercut (D + 2), Strong double-uppercut (D + 1+2) is quite easy to pull off now. His Flying Butt Slam works like Armadon's Iron Maiden... launch up at an angle, then quickly straight down once over the opponent. +----------+ | DIABLO | +----------+ Overall, like evryone except for Talon, he seems to be speeded up a bit, especially in the tail area. The low bite - low bite - trip - Hot Foot combo (that was used on Chaos and Armadon in v1.7) no longer seems possible... the Hot Foot kept missing. He seems to be able to jump faster, too, making him one of the better characters in the game. +----------+ | SAURON | +----------+ This big-boy is now someone to watch out for. His Earthquake Stomp has been disguised as a normal jump... it appears he's simply jumping straight up, then suddenly crashes down to the ground. Much better than v1.7. His Cranium Crusher, too, is faster. Overall, his moves are quicker and easier to pull off. The down side is that his regular movement (ie, walking) is much slower. Even Diablo can out-run him quite easily. By far the best change, however, is his new-found ability to do the Earthquake stomp in mid-air! It is possible to jump, then do an Earthquake stomp just before you reach ground. While the timing is a little difficult to pull off consistently, if you can manage it, the Stomp will take only a second or so to complete, meaning even a good player has to pay attention. This also leads to the largest AI glitch in this version, the Sauron Stomp. +---------+ | TALON | +---------+ They REALLY gave Talon a workover (I knew they'd mess with him, but not this much!) His Pounce & Flip does almost no damage (10%), as does his claw jabs. His kicks and claw rakes do a reasonable amount of damage, though. Also, his Jugular Bite is much easier to get off (they also made it a named combo). His Brain Basher works different. He no longer launches himself off your head - he bounces off it. This means that it's possible to get off some combos with it, as you're close enough for a hit. The good side is his new, improved Shredder fatality. That makes it worth playing as him. (And besides... it's Talon! What other reason do you need?) +-----------+ | VERTIGO | +-----------+ Definite possibilities. She moves a lot slower. She still doesn't have any anti-air moves, but seems to have 3 teleports now. One is the normal teleport, like v1.7. She also has one where she disappears and drops from the top of the screen (ala Samuari Shodown). The last one is a double-teleport - she disappears, reappears for a split-second, a lightning bolt goes off, and she reappears somewhere else. I don't know the purpose of that one... might be a special move being blocked by the computer, as it has set off the cheeze warning before. The best part about her is that she teleports in MID-AIR now. Her Come Slither also must be blocked low now, it appears. And hey... she comes in Lime Green! What else could one want?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.2 Playing Strategies - Become one with your animal ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ARMADON ------- He walks very slowly, but his moves are pretty fast now... some of his old combos do still work, like a jumping 4, 3+4, low 3+4, low 3+4, Rushing Uppercut. The added bonus is that his Rushing Uppercut tosses the opponent high into the air, making it easy to add it 2 horns (standing 1, 2). His Tail Spike move is fast now. The Spinning Death doesn't seem to go under Blizzard's Cold Breath anymore, though, so don't try it. He plays pretty much the same, just faster. And don't forget the speeded up Iron Maiden move, for those people who think they're playing Street Fighter (Fireballs? yeah right....) Just remember to attack or stay away... Armadon's moves are fast, but you'll never be able to back away from someone. BLIZZARD -------- It may be just me, but he seems rather sluggish and unresponsive now. Other than that, he doesn't seem to have undergone any noticable changes. CHAOS ----- His Battering Ram now throws the opponent forward, so it's easy to tack on a Double Uppercut (D + 2), Strong Double Uppercut (D + 1+2). His Fart of Fury also seems to change direction after it's.. umm.... 'released' if you jump over him as he's farting. Something to look out for. He also walks pretty slow (although he never was real fast). His Ground Shaker move can be done in the air, as well. DIABLO ------ He seemed pretty much the same as well. With faster moves, he'll probably end up being one of the better characters in this version. SAURON ------ vs. the computer, two words - Sauron Stomp. See his section below. The Cranium Crusher is a lot faster.... much better than the Primal Scream to take out jumping opponents. Sauron's Earthquake Stomp is now disguised as a normal jump... he jumps up normally, then quickly crashes to the ground, and it can also be done in the air. Catches most people off-gaurd until they learn to watch for it. Also, his ground throw is quick enough to be used in a combo (named combo at that... 'crunchy' series) TALON ----- His Pounce & Flip does NOTHING now... just 3 extra hits for a tiny amount of damage. His Jugular Bite is easier to get off now, and is probably a better end to a combo than the Pounce & Flip (plus it does more damage). Probably the hardest change to get used to (for me anyway) is how his kick timing has changed. Jumpkicks work different... his fierce (3+4) kick is a lot slower, and can't really be used in combos. It'll probably take a regular Talon player a while to adjust to his new speed. VERTIGO ------- Her greatest asset, IMHO, is her ability to teleport in mid-air. Along with being able to appear both on the ground and drop from the sky, AND choose which side to appear on, it makes her one of the most annoying people to fight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3.3 General Computer Fighting Styles/Strategies ------------------------------------------------------------------------ +--------------+ | IN GENERAL | +--------------+ The computer has become MUCH better at defending against air attacks. Expect to be hit by an uppercut or lunging bite many times before you get the timing down. As usual, if you must jump, it's safer to not push any buttons until you are directly overhead, at the last possible second (with a few exceptions). Rushing attacks (Armadon's Spinning Death or Rushing Uppercut, Diablo's Mega Lunge, etc) no longer go under some projectiles all the time (like Blizzard's Cold Breath). +-----------+ | ARMADON | +-----------+ He's gotten a bit tougher! If you jump, he'll nail you with his Hornication Uppercut with great accuracy. He loves doing tail trip/Tail Spike combo. Found a weakness though... he no longer does a Spinning Death when he's far away. Instead, he'll jump at you to get closer. You just need to time it so you hit him in the air. +------------+ | BLIZZARD | +------------+ He has learned to jump straight up when he catches you in an Ice Geyser. He also gets sick of you jumping after a while, and will start to uppercut you whenever you try. Also, some of the rushing attacks no longer go under his Cold Breath (Armadon's Spinning Death, for example). He basically plays more defensively, not longer doing Mega Punches or Cold Breaths when he's far away from you. However, he does not defend low very well. If you get knocked down and he's close, doing a low move (NOT a trip move... just a low claw/bite or something similar) will usually connect. +---------+ | CHAOS | +---------+ Like Blizzard, he will also start uppercutting you if you keep jumping at him too much. He doesn't really seem too much different, except for the fact that he's not as patterned as he was. If you jump, sometimes he'll block, sometimes he'll uppercut you, sometimes he'll jump, sometimes he'll do a Battering Ram, etc. What he does seems based on how far away you were when you pushed the attack buttons. The bad side is that he has bigger and better combos. Usually in 1.7, he'd do a combo ending in a Battering Ram and that's it. Now, he usually tacks on a couple uppercuts for that little extra. +----------+ | DIABLO | +----------+ Not too much different... he uses bite/bite/fireball and bite/bite/torch combos now, and his tail is faster... watch out for it. He doesn't seem to do the Mega Lunge when you jump very often, and when he does, he misses a lot. Occassionally he seems to get pissed, and starts jumping at you a lot... be careful! He's gotten quite fast with air attacks. +----------+ | SAURON | +----------+ Bad news... walking forward, then backwards no longer causes Sauron to Stun Roar reliably. Good news is that with the lessened damage, those 4-hit combos of his shouldn't be able to kill you in 5 seconds. He WILL Stun Roar from walking forwards then backwards, but not like he used to.... I'll have to play him some more and see if I can find out exactly what's needed to make him do it reliably again. +---------+ | TALON | +---------+ Oh man... he may be slower and wimpy, but the computer is downright killer with him! He's nothing of the fighter he used to be, but the computer doesn't make any mistakes with him. Talon almost NEVER jumps. If YOU jump, he'll do a lunging upward bite almost every time. If you stay on the ground, he'll calmly walk up and take a bite out of your throat. He's gonna be a tough one to find a pattern for... +-----------+ | VERTIGO | +-----------+ She seems about the same, although she can teleport in mid-air now. It also seems her Come Slither can't be blocked high anymore, which is bad when you're trying to back up. Also, when you're trying to back up and she tries the Come Slither, you get stuck in block mode until you release the joystick and push back again. Really a pain. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.4 Specific Fighting Strategies ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Any strategies with (unconfirmed) by them means that it may work just great, but I haven't personally had a chance to try it out. ARMADON vs. ----------- ** ARMADON ** unknown ** BLIZZARD ** unknown ** CHAOS ** I had limited success with doing repeated Rushing Uppercuts. As in 1.7, he'll block it and try a low hit, which misses. If you're fast enough, you can get off another Rushing Uppercut and hit him before he recovers. Just don't do this in the corner, as you'll end up too close to him. ** DIABLO ** unknown ** SAURON ** unknown ** TALON ** Easy... back up, then do an Iron Maiden. Talon will obediently stand there, doing a fierce claw rake (1+2) in a vain attempt to hit you. He almost always misses, however, and gets impaled quite nicely. Power jump away, then repeat once he gets back up. ** VERTIGO ** unknown BLIZZARD vs. ------------ ** ARMADON ** unknown ** BLIZZARD ** unknown ** CHAOS ** Had pretty good success with doing 2 low jabs (low 1), then a short Mega Punch. As long as you don't get him in the corner, he'll usually block the jabs and get hit by the Mega Punch. Just be sure to stay out of the corner and to not let up for even a second. ** DIABLO ** unknown ** SAURON ** unknown ** TALON ** unknown ** VERTIGO ** unknown CHAOS vs. --------- ** ARMADON ** As in 1.7, I just backed up. Also as in 1.7, the computer seems to fight different against Chaos. Armadon isn't too hard... just back up and nail him when he tries to hit you, and stay out of the corners is possible. ** BLIZZARD ** Had pretty good success with doing a Battering Ram followed immediately by 2 low jabs (1), another Battering Ram, 2 jabs, etc. As long as he's not in the corner, Blizzard will either block them or get hit by the jabs and/or Battering Ram. If you get him in a corner, or he doesn't cooperate for some reason, he'll usually do a pungh - Mega Punch combo. ** CHAOS ** unknown ** DIABLO ** unknown ** SAURON ** unknown ** TALON ** unknown ** VERTIGO ** unknown DIABLO vs. ---------- ** ARMADON ** (unconfirmed) Try doing nothing but Hot Foots as fast as possible. He should either try a move and get fried, walk into it and get fried, do a Hornication Uppercut and get fried, or block it and get fried by the next one. If he manages to get close, hit him with 2 low bites (1) to back him up and continue. If you let him get too far away, He'll do a spinning death. ** BLIZZARD ** (unconfirmed) Jump at him from a medium distance, with a flying tail (jumping 3+4). If you're the correct distance away, you'll hit him as he tries to hit you, even if an Ice Geyser catches you. If he blocks, do 2 low bites (1) to back him up, and repeat. ** CHAOS ** The old teleport, low 1, low 1, low 3+4, Hot Foot (now replaced with a Mega Lunge) works a little... Chaos will do a trip, Battering Ram combo of some sort as you reappear from the teleporting quite commenly now, so it's not effective. (unconfirmed) Follow the same general pattern as fighting Blizzard ** DIABLO ** unknown ** SAURON ** unknown ** TALON ** (unconfirmed) Jump at him with a flying tail (jumping 3+4). His Double Slash will probably hit you, but your tail should hit Talon if he tries anything else. If you land next to him, do a low 1, low 1, and then a SLOW fireball - Talon will usually not block the fireball. (Be warned - not doing the fireball means getting hit with a major combo) Then just repeat. ** VERTIGO ** (unconfirmed) Just jump at her with a 1+2. If it hits, take 3 steps back and repeat. If it misses, block immediately or she'll hit you with her favorite double-bit combo. Then back up and repeat. SAURON vs. ---------- EVERYONE!! -=-=-=-=- The Sauron Stomp -=-=-=-=- The absolute biggest AI glitch in this version. This cheeze is so bad, even beginning players should be able to reach the final battle with little trouble. The first time I tried it, I completely beat the game, without continuing, and even without losing my first health bar! It's easy. All you do is power jump backwards, and at around the height of your jump, do the Earthquake Stomp. Just do that over and over and over. If your opponent starts getting close, simply jump backwards and do it. Otherwise, you can just power jump straight up. If you're in range, you can also hit with a 1+2 bite or even a Cranium Crusher as they bounce off the ground. Then jump back and repeat. The only 2 opponents who this isn't 100% effective are Sauron and Blizzard. Sauron sometimes will Stomp you back, or maybe a Cranium Crusher as you jump. But stay far enough away, and he's history. Vs. Blizzard (and to a lesser extent, Chaos), their projectiles will sometimes hit you as you come down. Just be careful, and they'll fall easily too. The only downside to this is that it's VERY boring. Jump, stomp. Jump, stomp. Still, if you really want to see Sauron's ending (he has the best one, by far), this is the way to do it. TALON vs. --------- [Talon's Double Slash combos are some of the most useful in the game. They do a reasonable amount of damage, are pretty simple to perform, and best of all, they are ground-based, and can be started from a crouching position. The Double Slash always start with 1, 1, Double Slash, go on from there. They do reasonable damage (23-27% or so), are pretty easy to do, and can be done standing or crouching. Talon's section will simply refer to them as a Double Slash combo; any of them may be used at that point.] ** ARMADON ** Easy. Just back up and wait. He'll always jump at you. Simply jump into him, and hit him in the air (a [kick-slash AC] works well). If you miss him, or he doesn't jump, expect a Hornication Uppercut or a Bed-o-Nails. If you get hit by a Bed-o-Nails, don't attack him. He just loves to do it again and hit you. If he does it again, back up a step or two, then do a quick low 3, low 3+4, Frantic Fury combo (or something similar). ** BLIZZARD ** Easy. Simply do a low 4 over and over (short slide). Don't wait in between slides, just keep doing them. He'll block maybe 50% of the time, the other 49% he'll get hit. Very seldom he'll retaliate with an attack that actually hits you, but this doesn't happen much and doesn't do too much damage. An improvement on the above is to do a low 4, then immediately do the motion for the Jugular Bite. If Blizzard get's hit, you'll do the Jugular Bite, doing 16% damage. If he blocks, nothing happens, and you just slide again. ** CHAOS ** Simple. Block any initial move he does, then get a bit away and power jump at him. At about the height of your jump or so, start a 2, 1+2 combo. The trick is that the 2 (small claw rake) will make Chaos try and uppercut you. Since you're out of range, he leaves himself open, and the 1+2 (large claw rake) hits before he recovers. You can combo on from there. ** DIABLO ** He's not too hard at all. Aside from basically just kicking his butt, you can do this simple cheeze: Get about 1 body width apart, then jumpkick. If you're the right distance away, he'll always jump and get hit. Even if he doesn't jump, he most likely won't retaliate, so you're safe. ** SAURON ** Backing up does make him Stun Roar, although not as reliably. Once you knock him down, get close to him, then back up until he does something. Sometimes he'll stun Roar each time, sometimes he won't. When he does Stun Roar, do a jumping combo on him. Also, watch out for when he jumps straight up - it's almost always an Earthquake Stomp. ** TALON ** I've found 3 weaknesses so far. If you do nothing but back up, he'll sometimes try a Brain Basher on you. Either do a lunging bite (d+2), or if you hae really fast reflexes, try a [Kick-Slash AC]. The second is his Double Slash. If you jump at him from far away, he usually won't do a lunging bite - he'll wait until you land and do a Double Slash. The idea is to jump at him from as far away as you can, land in front (start blocking before you land). If he tries a Double Slash and you block it, start hitting the jab button (1) before he finishes. You'll still block his move, and hit him before he recovers. Then follow up with the combo of your choice (any of the 1 - 1 - Double Slash combos work great). The last weakness is when he tries his combo. There's a slight glitch in his AI where he will try his combo on you, even though you're not in range. (His combo is a jumpkick, high jab, low jab, low kick, Jugular Bite). If you see him doing a jumpkick, get out of range and jump at him as soon as you can. You'll be able to jumpkick him out of his combo quite easily, since the computer is programmed to finish a combo whether it's hitting anything or not. The best way I've found to beat him is to jump at him from far away, WITHOUT ATTACKING!! Block as soon as you land. Assuming he doesn't bite you out of the air, he will almost always do a Double Slash. If you blocked that, start doing jabs before he finishes (see weakness #2). If you were out of his range and he Double Slashes, then time a slide to hit just after he finishes the Slash. Either way, back up and jump again. ** VERTIGO ** Ah, at last someone with a pattern! It seems our good old Vertigo STILL hasn't learned not to jump. It's a little harder than v1.7, though. Either do a stong jumpkick (3+4), or a [kick-slash AC]. Here's the important part - if you miss and she doesn't jump, duck right away, and do low jabs. She'll try a quick 2, 1+2 bite, but since you're ducking it will miss, and your jabs will hit. You can get off a 1 - 1 - Double Slash combo from there. VERTIGO vs. ----------- ** ARMADON ** unknown ** BLIZZARD ** unknown ** CHAOS ** unknown ** DIABLO ** unknown ** SAURON ** unknown ** TALON ** Easy. Talon is stupid! Simply get in range, then do a VooDoo spell. It almost always dizzies him. Combo him, make sure you knock him down. Then get about 2-3 lengths apart, and do the VooDoo Spell again as he stands up. Since Talon flips forward when getting up, if you're too close he'll end up behind you. Otherwise, he'll flip right into the VooDoo Spell again. Total Domination is quite possible using this method. ** VERTIGO ** unknown ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 Other Cool Stuff ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This section is other various Cheezes, bugs, and other interesting stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else, or I forgot to mention above.... // The Blocking half-bug \\ Really, REALLY annoying.... if you're walking backwards, and someone trieto hit you (notibly Vertigo's Come Slither), you go into block-stun until you let go of the joystick. This means you can either let go of the joystick, then push back again, hoping that you blocked long enough. Or, you can keep blocking, giving the other player the perfect opportunity to get a move off. And it seems to happen quite a bit. Must be a result of their 'better tuning'. Sometimes you'll still be blocking even though your joystick is centered and the other player has already recovered from the move you blocked. Major pain. ** The Joystick Reversal Bug ** This doesn't happen much at all, but it's still there. It seems that sometimes when you're close to your opponent, jumping around an such, the computer gets confused, resulting in your jumping the OPPOSITE way than where you want to go, often resulting in getting thrashed. What happened to me was I jumped, landed behind Vertigo, then tried to jump away from her. But the bug hit, and I jumped OVER her again. (ie, push the joystick up-right, you'll jump left). This bug seems to be VERY rare, however... although it's happened to me 4 times now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5 Where to get the latest copy of the Primal Rage FAQs and Strategy Guides ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Either FTP to netcom.com and look in the directory /pub/vi/vidgames/faqs for : primalrg.txt - Primal Rage 1.7 FAQ priml2_3.txt - Primal Rage 2.3 FAQ prsg1_7.txt - Strategy Guide, PR version 1.7 prsg2_3.txt - Strategy Guide, PR version 2.3 or send an e-mail message to ftp-request@netcom.com with the line: send /pub/vi/vidgames/faqs/filename.here to your.address@here Also, check out the WWW Primal Rage FAQ at: http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/u/cebarton/primal/primal-rage.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 I want your Cheeze! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any suggestions, comments, flames, ideas, cheezes, random drivel, or signed blank checks, write me at: Todd.Sinclair@Castles.com or Ace@Community.net I'll reply to all messages I get... if you send one and don't hear anything in a couple days, send another message to the other address.
