Version 2.0 Changes SpcPrint 1.0 was released into the public domain nearly 3 months ago. I used it quite a bit, and found the B&W pictures to be unsatisfactory, so I came up with an update, not released until now, that will print Spectrum pictures IN COLOR as well as in B&W. First of all, version 1.0 required that black and white only pictures could be printed. Version 2.0 will print in full color on EPSON printers that use the ESC r sequence for changing colors, or B&W on any EPSON that uses the ESC Z sequence (haven't come up with exceptions for either yet). Next, version 1.0 would only print Spectrum SPC and SPU files. Version 2.0 will successfully print DEGAS PI1 and NEOchrome NEO pictures as well as SPC and SPU. Another limitation of the first one is that when the picture was printing, garbage was displayed on the screen. This has been fixed, and a screen showing that the program is at work is displayed instead. You must still be in low resolution to print though. ****BONUS**** After looking at the source code to SpcPrint II one more time, I discovered how easy it would be to add a feature to print three individual planes (magenta, cyan, and yellow) on three sheets of paper on B&W printers for mixing at a publisher, creating a better looking image than those printed on color printers. I'm not sure of the cost of having a printer do this, but it should be not that great. Just select 3 Plane instead of Color or B&W when asked in the program. Doug Johnson 2TBBSCAR2TBBSCRTdRcw!2TCBBdR
