AW_RULRS.LZH August 27, 1993 This archive contains the files: RULER_3.STW and RULER_9.STW These are two transparent rulers for use in AtariWorks as aids in page layout. RULER_3.STW was designed for use on the hi-res screen with monochrome monitor. RULER_9.STW assumes the use of 1" upper and lower page margins and permits placement of text and graphics without guesswork as to vertical positioning. Accurate vertical positioning of text may be accomplished by typing the text in the approximate position you want then positioning the cursor on the line ABOVE the text. Type a single character then select Fonts under the Options menu and set the point size larger to move the text down or smaller to move the text up. Remember that point size includes spacing between lines, i.e. 12pt type is 1/6" high PLUS 3pt spacing (more properly known as "leading"). For 1/4" spacing try 9pt type with a spacing of -3. Don't forget to delete the "sizing" character afterwards. Try to do your editing in a "top to bottom" sequence since changing point size expands or contracts your page vertically with reference to the top of the page. I recommend that you keep a backup copy of these rulers in case you ever inadvertently grab one by a sizing handle and distort it. Use and enjoy.
