MagiC v4.02 IDE Patch v1.0 (March 24, 1996) Written by Daniel Hedberg of New Beat Development WHAT THIS PATCH DOES ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAGPATCH.TTP forces MagiC to skip the check for internal IDE drives. This check is very annoying on a system with only SCSI devices, as it takes MagiC forever to discover there are no IDE drives present. This patch does only work on v4.02 of MagiC and is NOT needed if you run MagiC on any other computer besides a Falcon030 with no IDE drives. Make sure you have a backup of the MAGIC.RAM file before you try to patch it. If MagiC does not work after the patch is done, replace the patched MAGIC.RAM with the old one. Of course it is always possible to re-install MagiC as well. I take no responsibility whatsoever for this patch, you are entirerly on your own if you intend to use it. HOW TO USE IT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The easiest way to patch your copy of MagiC is to use the "drag and drop" technique. Locate the file MAGIC.RAM (should be located in the root- directory of your boot drive) and drag it to the MAGPATCH.TTP file, and drop it when it becomes selected. Another way is to double click on the MAGPATCH.TTP file and enter the path to the MAGIC.RAM file (e.g. C:\MAGIC.RAM) in the dialog box that appears. The program will now load the MAGIC.RAM file and patch it. If anything goes wrong you will be notified. If not, you will never have to wait in agony for MagiC to boot-up anymore.
