INSTALLATION NOTES FOR THE ST/TT/FALCON EXTENSIONS. =================================================== IMPORTANT ========= Before installing these extensions ALWAYS make a back-up of your existing STOS setup. If anything goes wrong with this installation you will then be able to revert to your original STOS setup. This disk should contain the following archive(s) :- Filename Size File Info X_EXT'NS.TOS 63,732 Self-extracting ST Zip archived files. X_EXPL'S.TOS 31,236 Self-extracting ST Zip archived files. X_DOC'S .TOS 54,816 Self-extracting ST Zip archived files. INSTALLATION ============ Installation is split into two parts, depending on your system - floppy only systems - or systems with hard-drives. Single floppy systems ===================== Users of single floppy systems should prepare 3 formatted/blank disks. Copy the X_EXT'NS.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file to one of the disks and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_EXT'NS.TOS file from this disk, you should now be left with a path/folder named \EXTENSIO.NS\STOS\ which should contain the files listed under ARC_1 shown below; Now copy these files into your main STOS folder (for the interpreter). After copying these files across now is the time to ensure that their filename extenders (*.EX?) don't clash with those of extensions already installed in the STOS folder. (No two extensions are permitted to use the same extender e.g., .EXR) if clashes do occur then you may rename my extensions extenders later - see the text doc' FAQ.TXT for details on how to do this. For the present though, my extensions must be used as named, the examples are in STOS Basic tokenised form (.BAS) and for the time being will only work with the extensions as named and any of your previously installed extensions which clash must be temporarily disabled/deleted. (Moving them to a temporary folder is a good idea.) Now copy the X_EXPL'S.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file to one of the disks and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_EXPL'S.TOS file from this disk, you should now be left with a path/folder named \EXAMPLES\ which should contain the files listed under ARC_2 shown below; Now copy the X_DOC'S.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file to one of the disks and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_DOC'S.TOS file from this disk, you should now be left with a disk containing the files listed under ARC_3 shown below; Hard-drive systems ================== Create a temporary folder on your hard-drive, say, C:\TEMP\. Copy the X_EXT'NS.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file into the temporary folder and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_EXT'NS.TOS file from the TEMP folder, you should now be left with a path/folder named \EXTENSIO.NS\STOS\ which should contain the files listed under ARC_1 shown below; Now copy these files into your main STOS folder (for the interpreter). (Moving them to a temporary folder is a good idea.) Now delete all files from the temporary folder. Now copy the X_EXPL'S.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file into the temporary folder and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_EXPL'S.TOS file from the TEMP folder, you should now be left with a path/folder named \EXAMPLES\ which should contain the files listed under ARC_2 shown below; Copy these STOS Basic examples to a suitable partition/folder then delete all files from the temporary folder. Now copy the X_DOC'S.TOS self-extracting ST Zip archived file into the temporary folder and then double-click on it to extract all the files it contains. Then delete the X_DOC'S.TOS file from the TEMP folder, you should now be left with a path/folder named \TEMP\ which should contain the files listed under ARC_3 shown below; Copy the text doc's to a suitable partition/folder then delete the temporary folder. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation is now complete.
