** 0.3 page STOS corner / 290 words ** Martin Milner reports... Anthony Hoskins' (Falcon) Extensions The restructuring of Anthony Hoskins (Falcon) extensions has now been completed and importantly most of them are now now ST compatible. For example the 3D effect menus and 3D effect file selector are now available to all ST users. As promised, Anthony has sent us the unrestricted shareware (interpreter only) versions of his ST compatible extensions and you'll find them on the Reader Disk: ** On Reader Disk banner here ** ** UL ** * X_EXT'NS.TOS: Stars, System Control, 3D menu & Alerts, Gemtext, Grafix extensions * X_EXPL'S.TOS: Example programs showing how to use the new commands * X_DOC'S.TOS: Documentation * INSTALL.TXT: Installation instructions ** /UL ** Because of the major restructuring some of the commands have had to be relocated or renamed to minimise any backward compatibility problems with the older versions. Read the documentation carefully to ensure you're aware of the potential problems then proceed as follows: ** UL ** * Save any older programs in ASCII (untokenised) form along with any data banks. * Install the new extensions and use a text editor to replace any changed commands with their new equivalents. * From within the STOS editor, reload each edited program and its associated data banks (if any). * Save it out as a normal program. ** /UL ** Sprite Engine I recently mentioned Anthony was working on a new sprite engine, unfortunately, due to a hard disk mishap, he's lost the source code! Hopefully he'll be able to get it back together. Recently STOS development seems to have stalled with most of the active developers moving onto other projects. For this reason we've decided to close this column - unless we get howls of anguish from a hitherto silent band of STOS enthusiasts, with suggestions for future coverage - it's up to you.
