** 1 page regular / 786 words ** Siteseeing Mark Wherry 82% http://www.cix.co.uk/~mark_wherry/ ** MWHERRY.GIF here ** Mark Wherry is the erstwhile programmer of that oh so cool GEMTrade, the GEM based program which lets you translate German text files into fairly understandable English ones. This is an invaluable tool for those of us who like to try out the non-commercial software available, many which are in German. Although noted for GEMTrade, Mark has some other useful applications up his sleeve. Simple Script helps you create scripts for use with GEMScript, which lets you automate procedures such as logging on to a web site, downloading the home page, printing the page and then logging off. Install It is a generic install program, Virtual Application is a programming environment which may evolve into a Visual Basic/C for the Atari platform. Finally there's HTML-Export [Ed: See review in the PD/Shareware pages] which not only converts HTML files into ASCII but does it with style - optionally as a CAB module with display in the viewer of your choice. The site itself is clean and fast loading. There are screenshots and brief explanations of the software along with links to other sites. It has a UDO look and feel, which isn't surprising because Mark makes a point about using UDO on the front page! I feel a blatant plug coming along - go register UDO. He also tells us to read Atari Computing (another blatant plug). Mark also allows us a little peek in to his personal life by telling us about his music interests. All in all a definite thumbs up. ** Italics ** Denesh Bhabuta ** Italics ** --- MagiC Online 95% http://bengy.atari.org ** BENGY.GIF here ** These pages, maintained by Bengy Collins, are aimed at MagiC users. The main page is stylish, easy to use and packed with information which is an impressive achievement. At first glance the page looks frame based but closer inspection reveals everything is contained within a single table which means these pages display fine in CAB v1.5 and other browsers which don't support frames. The generic graphics undoubtedly add impact but if your phone bill or hardware groans under the strain you can turn them off and you'll find the site can be navigated perfectly in text only mode which shows attention to detail. Centre screen there's a guest book followed by a gossip column - if just some of the rumours turns out to be true I'll be happy! The outer columns include links to other, mostly local, pages including: ** UL ** * Download bay with over 75 magic related downloads * Snapshots of current MagiC and MagiC related programs * Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) * Tips and Tricks * Links to other pages of interest to MagiCians * An OS poll where you can vote for you favourite OS - shock horror MagiC is currently in the lead! * Online Reviews - links directly to Noah Silva's review pages at: http://www.mcs.drexel.edu/~unsilva/reviews/english.html ** /UL ** ** Italics ** Joe Connor ** Italics ** --- Site News Mountain in English In AC#10 we reported there would eventually be an English release of this exciting video editing package. Tabi! converts ASCII tables to HTML format and offers features to add a caption and set the table attributes. Each individual table cell can be edited to set the background/text colour, font attributes/size/alignment and can even assign the table cell as a link. Tabi! is just one of many utilities and applications programmed by Matthias Jaap and available for download via these pages. ** BC ** Email: matthias.jaap@usa.net www.penguin.atari.de ** /BC ** --- AstraSoft AstraSoft, publishers of the commercial StormTracker GEM Mod music editor have recently released it as shareware along with DeskTracker, the desktop mod player.
