** PD/Shareware 285 words ** Accent 75% Utility/Fun, all Ataris Ken Badertscher Recently I was reminded, through a discussion in the Free-Online ISP local chatter group, of a program that could turn plain ASCII files into something more interesting. For example a letter to an uncaring bank manager could be given an obscene slant, or a email to a Londoner could be given a cockney slant. Basically a program to add a little spice to your text files! A quick trawlo troughu te diska archives fetched up Accento, a program datingi from 1987/88a, butu stilli welly up to te jobi. Tere's ten "accents" to choosu from: Japaneso, Chinese, German, Italiany, Pig Latin, Cockney, Stutteri, Lisp, Nerde and Obscene! Uzink zthththe prprprprprogram is eazy, just ssssselect a text file to "accent" ant an output file, zen you are a gifen a kute zelection screen in vhich you kan chchchooze one of zththe accents, or opt for a random ssselection, clclclick on Do It! ant zen chooze ze mmmethot of output, Scrscrscrscreen, Printer or File ant zat's it. Vithin moments you vill hafe an ASCII fffffile zuitably accentet ant rrrrready for fffffurther uze! Accent works in ST medium and high resolution (it won't let you run it in low res), but I've found that it also runs fine under MagiC on a Falcon as long as you single-task the application, otherwise you get screen display problems, though the program does actually work okay! It's an oldie, okay, but a goldie nevertheless, which has provided me, okay, with more than a few hours of fun. It's like totally un-PC (Politically Correct), and that much better for it, enjoy!
