** 1 page PD/Shareware / 618 words ** Taskbar now MagiC compatible! ** TASKBAR.GIF here ** Taskbar is a Win95/NT-like taskbar, programmed by Jo Even Skarstein in Norway, which displays a list of running applications and includes a start-menu. Taskbar has been popular with N.AES/MiNT enthusiasts and provides an alternative to the AppLine and SMU combination commonly used by MagiC enthusiasts. Jo has been working on adding MagiC compatibility for ages now and the latest beta is up and running under MagiC - tantalisingly close to a MagiC compatible release version. Jo has discovered Thing, jinnee and AV-Server all behave differently and that currently everything is working perfectly with Thing, jinnee 2 is almost sorted but AV-Server is still causing problems. There are a few minor limitations compared to running under N.AES/MiNT: ** UL ** * It's not possible to change priority - MagiC doesn't support this. * Nicelines in popups/menus are working * No long-names (only supported for accessories under MagiC, but there's no legal way for other applications to inquire them). Joe may get around this by adding support for the GEMScript getAppLongName function. * Under N.AES hidden apps are shown in italics, this currently doesn't work under MagiC. * No "shell" to launch under MagiC, so this option is disabled. ** /UL ** Why not download the latest beta and send Jo some encouragement and feedback at: Email: joska@pingle.nvg.ntnu.no http://www-atari.nvg.ntnu.no/Taskbar/ --- Online version checklist Several of the utilities needed to make the most of your online setup have recently been updated. We recently unearthed Multi-Clipboard v4.02 programmed by Ingo Dehne, which supports nine clipboards. Although our archive seems incomplete (it doesn't contain any useful documentation to explain how to set-up or use the program) it appears to be able to save IMG and TXT files named SCRAPx.y in the normal clipboard folder, where x is the clipboard number (1-9) and y is the filetype (IMG/TXT/?). You can download a copy and investigate further for yourselves from: http://www.atari.nu/xonline/miscfile/mc402.zip --- MiNT For Newbies Jo Even Skarstein is putting together a "MiNT For Newbies" distribution, which contains the latest kernel, the last AES from Atari (pretty good for a freebie) and some tools. It will use GEM-Setup so it should be quite easy to install.
