** PD/Shareware / 391 words ** APP_LIST 0.4 86% Utility, All Ataris, multitasking OS needed Freeware Ralf Zimmermann dl1fdt@amsat.org http://ralf.zimmermann.com APP_LIST is neat little utility for use with MagiC, MultiTOS etc to keep track of which programs are currently active in memory. A GEM window reports the free ST and TT memory separately along with the total number of applications in memory followed by an applications list which displays the application name and optionally the application type and ID. Clicking in the window area above the list displays a pop-up menu offering the following options (in German): ** UL ** * šber APP_LIST (About APP_LIST) * Zeichensatz (Typeface) Requires UFSL compatible font selector * Parameter sichern (Save parameters) * Ausblenden/Alle Anzeigen (Hide/Show all) Applications flagged IGNORE in the INF file can be displayed or hidden * Screen aufr„umen (Redraw screen) The screen is redrawn under MagiC * Mover entfernen/aktivieren (Remove/show window frame) If you plan to leave APP_LIST open on your desktop in a fixed position you can minimise the space it takes up by turning the window frame off - to subsequently move the window you have to reactivate the window frame via this pop-up. * Typ ausblenden/anzeigen (Hide/Show type) The application type column is hidden or displayed as follows: APPlication, ACCessory, SYStem * ID ausblenden/anzeigen (Hide/Show ID) The application ID column is hidden or displaued. ** /UL ** Clicking on an application in the list area displays a pop-up menu offering the following options: ** UL ** * Activate: The MagiC screen manager is called to activate the process. This only affects the Menu bar, where available, windows are also not affected. If the selected application is desktop ACCessory it's sent a VA_start message which should open or top its window. * End: The process is sent an AP_TERM message and should exit tidily. * Delete: After a warning message a process can be forcibly removed from memory - for emergency use only! ** /UL ** The default font displayed in the window can be changed using UFSL (Ultimate Font Selector) where available. When APP_LIST is started it searches for its ASCII editable INF file and this can be configured to IGNORE any applications. Such entries are displayed in normal text, instead of bold text, in the application list - unless they are hidden altogether. Ignoring and hiding the desktop and other applications which are always installed makes the list easier to manage. Joe Connor
