** PD/Shareware review / 230 words ** MagiC PC Shutdown v1.0 Public Domain Heiko Achilles Email: hornsk@talknet.de http:www.talknet.de/~hornsk/ ** MPC_SHUT.GIF here ** MagiC PC Shutdown is a replacement for the standard MagiC Shutdown utility. It provides a number of additional features compared to the standard utility: ** UL ** * MagiC PC is either ended or restarted. * MagiC PC is exited and the machine shutdown. * MagiC PC is exited and Windows either rebooted or restarted in MS-DOS mode. * A Linux installation can be booted. * Optionally, with NVDI installed, the current Windows resolution can be passed to the change resolution utility (CHGRES.PRG). ** /UL ** Once configured a dialog on shutdown from which you select the desired option. BubbleGEM help is provided to help clarify the options. Holding down the [Shift] key bypasses the shutdown dialog, in which case your preferred default option is carried out. Installation requires a bit on manual intervention. Two files have to be copied to you MagiC PC folder on the PC side. On the Atari side the original SHUTDOWN.PRG has to be renamed/moved and replaced with the MagiC PC Shutdown equivalent and its resource file. Finally your SHUTDOWN.INF file needs to be edited to suit your requirements, using the commented example file for guidance. The optional resolution change feature only works with NVDI installed and uses undocumented features in the NVDIPC.INF file which may not work on every setup - it doesn't function with Windows NT.
