MGSEARCH is certainly not the most intuitive way of finding files on a crowded hard disk and other search utilities like ParaFin are no longer under development so Daniel H”pfl's SuJi - "Search for me" was a welcome new release. Suji is a GTP (Gem Takes Parameters) utility. There's a ST-Guide hypertext which takes us through its installation and operation with BubbleGEM help to remind us of the main points and best of all it's Freeware! Single TOS'ers are not forgotten either. While it's not possible to integrate SuJi into the desktop in the same fashion as MagiC together with desktops such as MagXDesk and jinnee, with the system extension WDIALOG loaded (either from the Auto folder or from the desktop) Suji can be run from the desktop instead. BubbleGEM help can also be configured to work under Single TOS - check the BubbleGEM documentation for more details. Suji's not just a pretty GEM utility either. Search results can be sorted in ascending or descending order on a variety of fields including size and date, something which Holger Weets' Finder (reviewed in AC#12) lacks. Needless to say, with an AV Server installed, double-clicking on a file launches it either as an application or loads it into a suitable viewer depending what applications you have installed from your desktop. My only niggle is that the drive popup isn't intuitive. Selecting drives to search is performed by de-selecting drives you DON'T want to search on - a point that caused me endless confusion until TransAction crew member Peter West was called in to translate this package! I like it, but don't take my word for it - download a copy and try it for yourself! ** product boxout ** Suji v1.35 Author: Daniel H”pfl Status: Freeware System: All Ataris Contacts: Email: daniel@hoepfl.de Download: http://cocker.home.pages.de/ Download: http://www.cix.co.uk/~derryck/software.htm TransAction: http://www.cix.co.uk/~inactive/TransAction ** /product boxout **
