** 0.5 page feature / 283 words ** PARX M&E System and the Casio QV Digital Cameras by Martin Milner... ** QV.GIF here ** After reading on CIX that PARX software had recently added a new M&E Plug-In (RIM) module to read Casio digital camera (.CAM) format files I logged onto their web site and downloaded the entire freeware M&E Plug-In module collection (over 150) and after installing the PARX system folder, some demo colour printer drivers and Piccolo (a "lite" version of D2M - PARX's own full featured art package) I was ready to try loading some Casio image files. ** PICCOLO.GIF here ** ** Caption ** Using the CAM.RIM module and Piccolo, in TrueColor mode on a Falcon, native Casio images loaded smoothly and the display was comparable to the same images loaded on a PC. At lower colour depths image loading and display slowed to a crawl - probably due to palette remapping. ** end caption ** The Casio QV digital camera can save up to 64 images at 640x480 resolution and operate at shutter speeds between 1/8 and 1/4000 second. Images can be viewed instantly on the integral LCD display or via the video output on any TV. Connection to computer is via a serial interface and PARX supply the cable and software package for 490 French Francs (around £52). Other PARX modules interface with scanners and colour printers including the Epson, Canon, Hewlett-Packard and Fargo ranges - PARX is one company worth keeping an eye on! ** Product boxout ** Product: PARX Casio QV package Publisher: PARX, 54 Rue des Abbesses, F-75018 PARIS, France Email: hpiedv@parx.fr URL: http://www.parx.fr UK distribution: 16/32 Systems Telephone: +44 (0)1634 710788 Email: 16-32@premier.co.uk System: All Ataris with 1Mb or more memory ** end of boxout **
