** PD/shareware / 264 words 74% Education Shiuming Lai Shareware Any STe/STFM Another Undersoft release, from its educational range. This one is aimed to help younger children develop basic numeracy and memory skills. A total of four games are included. The first three are based on numbers - counting objects, addition and subtraction. The forth and final game is a memory teaser, intended as relaxation. It's actually a cut-down version of Deuce (see review in this issue) and I think I prefer this easier version! The bold, colourful icons and pointer to select the answers from the numbers displayed across the bottom of the screen are all designed with young children in mind. There is only one opportunity to enter an answer and no time limit, which should encourage careful thinking and accuracy. The correct answer is selected by moving the pointer to the correct number button - they're all in the range one to ten. Another nice touch is the ability to exit the games at any point, in which case the score is given as a total of correct answers out of the number attempted. In common with other Undersoft titles, the presentation is bright and cheerful. Registration costs between 10 and 20 dollars - you decide. ** Captions ** ** Either this image ** ** COMP1STM.GIF ** Hmmn, saws probably wasn't the best choice of things to count - but I noticed our favourite computer makes an appearance in Hide and Seek so all is forgiven! ** or these... ** ** TITLE.GIF ** ** ADDING.GIF ** Should young children really be counting dangerous tools!? ** HIDESEEK.GIF ** This is more like it!
