First, the left mouse button does not work properly when on the desktop, more specifically, when clicking on windows ( to top ), or on the close box, or scrolling ( either clicking in the scroll bar or on the arrows ), sometimes it works fine, sometimes it takes several clicks before it works. I ran v0.59 again, no problems, it also works fine with Teradesk v1.4. As I said, I recently got Magic 5/Magxdesk and there's no problem there, except I prefer to use Thing. Second, at the moment under Magic, when at the desktop ( Thing ) with no other progs running I have about 2500k free. Replacing Thing with Magxdesk gives me 3100k free, a saving of 600k, it would be great if Thing could be improved to take less Ram. Of course Thing unloads itself under single TOS, but I could really do with more free Ram under Magic. The Ideas. ..include "eject medium" in file menu, ( ala Magxdesk ). ..only load assigned icons, ( ala Magxdesk ). ..make Thing take less memory, ( ala Magxdesk ). * ..allow up to 32 extensions to be entered in "will open" in "install applications". * ..biuld in a fully configurable "LEDPANEL" clone. * ..biuld in a "CHICFONT" clone. ..ability to configure centre mouse button. * 32 ext I've had to install "St-guide", "Everest", and "Print" twice each because of the lmitation on the number of file extensions you can use to call an application. If it were raised to 32 I'd only need to install them once. At the moment I use 16 extenders to call these programs ( 17 for St-guide ) and the number may well increase so I'll have to install them three times. It is neccersary to do this so I get the option to view / edit / print any asc file I double click on. * LEDPANEL is a P.D. utility which is probably the best clock display there is, at the far right of the menu bar, it displays, in white on black or black on white, the time, or pressing "alternate" the date, a "caps lock" icon, and two rows of LED's, one LED in each row for each partiton, showing which partition is being read or written to. I'm sure something similar could be written in to Thing and probably take less Ram. * CHICFONT is a tiny ( less than 5k ) P.D. utility which changes the system font to "Chicago", which gives such an improvement to the desktop that I never use high res without it. Unfortunately it only works in high resolution, but I'm sure Things programmers could write it into the next version so it works in medium res. It's a lot easier than using an aditional font selecter program and takes a less Ram. I've experimented with different fonts in the desktop but this is the best looking font I've found, and in such a small bit of code, it's a must.
