The JAMMER Tutorial Get ready for the ultimate experience in MIDI software. The JAMMER provides you with a complete studio interface plus an array of studio musicians ready to write parts, record tracks, and jam with you. The JAMMER runs on PCs using either a 401 compatible MIDI interface or a Sound Blaster Card and requires only 640K of memory. Configuring the JAMMER for your Hardware - By default the JAMMER is configured to use an MPU-401 compatible MIDI interface using IRQ 2 and I/O Port address 330. If your system is configured differently you may reconfigure the JAMMER in the following ways: To use an MPU-401 compatible MIDI Interface: ____________________________________________ If you want the JAMMER to use an MPU-401 compatible MIDI interface enter the following command the first time you run the JAMMER: JAMMER CARD=401 IRQ=2 PORT=330 The IRQ and PORT values used should match the settings you have selected on the actual 401 interface card. From then on you only need to type the command 'JAMMER' at the DOS prompt to start the program. To use a Sound Blaster MIDI Interface: ______________________________________ If you want the JAMMER to use the MIDI interface on your Sound Blaster Card enter the following command the first time you run the JAMMER: JAMMER CARD=SBMIDI From then on you only need to type the command 'JAMMER' at the DOS prompt to start the program. The JAMMER will use the environment variables provided with your Sound Blaster to determine what IRQ and IO Port address to use. To use the Sound Blaster FM Synthesizer: ________________________________________ If you want the JAMMER to use the sounds from your Sound Blaster FM Synthesizer enter the following command the first time you run the JAMMER: JAMMER CARD=SBFM Once the JAMMER has initialized itself and displayed the Tracks Window for you, you should do the following: 1. Select the Devices Menu ( ALT D ) 2. Select the System Options menu item 3. Set the Default Mix File to 'SBFM' 4. Select OK 5. Select the Style Menu ( ALT S ) 6. Select the Load Mix menu item 7. Select the mix file entitled SBFM 8. Select OK From then on you only need to type the command 'JAMMER' at the DOS prompt to start the program. The JAMMER will remember your card type and will automatically load your default mix file. NOTE: Sometimes a JAMMER band style may bring in too many musicians for the Sound Blaster FM Synthesizer to handle and you may hear parts being chopped off or left out. To remedy this situation, set the mode of one of the Rhythm Instrument Tracks from COMP to ERAS and recompose, or set that track from PLAY to MUTE. Lets the Jams begin: ____________________ A Quick Look at the Studio - OK, let's fire it up. Enter the command JAMMER at your DOS prompt and press Enter. The JAMMER will initialize itself and then display the tracks window for you: Tracks # Patch Name Bnk Chn Play Lvl Vel Pan Rvb Cho Trn Mode Jamr Sty Events - Progression --- --- ---- --- --- --- --- --- 0 Comp Prog Sty --- 1 Fingered Bass 0 1 Play 90 0 64 0 0 0 Comp Bass Sty 0 2 Acoustic Grand 0 2 Play 100 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 3 Acoustic Grand 0 2 Play 100 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 4 Rock Organ 0 3 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 5 Rock Organ 0 3 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 6 Steel String 0 4 Play 90 0 84 64 20 0 Comp Rhyt Sty 0 7 Steel String 0 4 Play 90 0 84 64 20 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 8 Jazz Electric 0 5 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Eras Melo Sty 0 9 Jazz Electric 0 5 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 10 Alto Sax 0 6 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 11 Alto Sax 0 6 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 12 Violin 0 7 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Comp Melo Sty 0 13 Violin 0 7 Play 90 0 64 64 20 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 The studio is set up with instruments on the first two pages (tracks 1-27) and the drums on the next two pages (tracks 28-55). It is best to use this format since the STYLE files that come with the JAMMER use this format. Press the 3 key and you will see the first page of drums in the tracks window: Tracks # Patch Name Bnk Chn Play Lvl Vel Pan Rvb Cho Trn Mode Jamr Sty Events 28 Loose Kick 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Comp Kick Sty 0 29 Loose Snare 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Comp Snar Sty 0 30 Side Stick 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Perc Sty 0 31 Closed Hi Hat 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Comp Perc Sty 0 32 Open Hi Hat 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Perc Sty 0 33 Lo Mid Tom 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Perc Sty 0 34 Lo Tom 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 35 Hi Floor Tom 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 36 Lo Floor Tom 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 37 Hi Crash Cymbal 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Perc Sty 0 38 Lo Crash Cymbal 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 39 Hi Ride Cymbal 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Perc Sty 0 40 Lo Ride Cymbal 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 41 Ride Bell 0 10 Play 90 0 64 64 0 0 Eras Rhyt Sty 0 Note: You can quickly go to the first two instrument screens or the first two drum screens by using the 1, 2, 3, and 4 keys or by clicking on their targets in the status window. Setting Up Your MIDI Devices - (If you are using the SoundBlaster FM Synthesizer sounds you may skip this section) Before we start jammin we need to give the JAMMER some information about your particular MIDI devices. If your MIDI devices are GM (General MIDI) or GS (General Standard) compatible then your drum kit and patches are already set up for you. If your MIDI devices are Roland MT-32 compatible then you may load the MT-32 patch table and drum kit assignments using the Load Patch Table and Load Drum Kit menu items in the Devices Menu. If your devices are not GM, GS, or MT-32 compatible then you will need to edit the drum kit and patch tables to setup the studio for your devices. Setting Up Your Drum Kit - Press ALT D to open the Devices Menu on the menu bar at the top of your screen. Next select the menu item called Edit Drum Kit. You should now see a full screen of drum key assignments like this: Drum Name Key Num Loose Kick [ 35] Tight Kick [ 36] Loose Snare [ 38] Tight Snare [ 40] Side Stick [ 37] Closed Hi Hat [ 42] Pedal Hi Hat [ 44] Open Hi Hat [ 46] Hi Tom [ 50] Hi Mid Tom [ 48] Lo Mid Tom [ 47] Lo Tom [ 45] Hi Floor Tom [ 43] Lo Floor Tom [ 41] Hi Ride Cymbal [ 59] Lo Ride Cymbal [ 51] < Press F10 to Exit > There are actually 60 pieces in the JAMMER drum kit. To see the other drum key assignments use the Page Down key to go down a page. Set each of the drum key numbers to match the key numbers of the drums for your MIDI devices. Press F10 when you are done and the JAMMER will give you a chance to save your drum kit setup to a file. The JAMMER will also automatically load the new drum kit file the next time you start the program. Setting Up Your Instrument Patches - Press Alt D to open the Devices Menu on the menu bar at the top of your screen. Next select the menu item called Edit Patches. You should now see the Auto Patching Table: Patch Name Patch Num [Acoustic Grand ] [ 1] [Bright Acoustic] [ 2] [Electric Grand ] [ 3] [Honky Tonk Keys] [ 4] [Electric Piano1] [ 5] [Electric Piano2] [ 6] [Harpsichord ] [ 7] [Clavinet ] [ 8] [Celesta ] [ 9] [Glockenspiel ] [ 10] [Music Box ] [ 11] [Vibraphone ] [ 12] [Marimba ] [ 13] [Xylophone ] [ 14] [Tubular Bells ] [ 15] [Dulcimer ] [ 16] < Press F10 to Exit > There are actually 256 available slots in the Auto Patching Table. Each table entry equates a patch name with a patch number. You can press the Page Down key to go down a page at a time to edit all of the patch numbers. When playback starts the JAMMER will automatically set the patches on each track for you according to the values in this table. The patch table is already filled in with the patch names and numbers from the MIDI General Standard (GS). If your MIDI devices are not GS compatible then we recommend that you use the GS patch names furnished and just change the patch numbers to match your synthesizer as close as possible. The quickest and easiest way to get up and running is to set just the patch numbers for the instruments used by the JAMMER in the default mix. These patches are as follows: Fingered Bass Acoustic Grand Rock Organ Steel String Jazz Electric Alto Sax Violin Electric Piano1 Banjo Distortion Trumpet Synth Brass String Ensemble When you have entered the proper patch numbers for your devices press F10 and the JAMMER will give you a chance to save this information to a custom patch file and return you to the tracks window. Pick a Style, Any Style - Now you're ready to jam but before we let it rip let's load in a style of your choice. Press ALT S to open the Styles Menu and then select the Load Style menu item. The JAMMER will then present you with an alphabetical list of available style files. Move the cursor bar to the style of your choice and press Enter to load the style. The first four letters of a style name represent the main style emphasis while the last four letters of the name represent some variation of the main style. For example the style BGRSCTRY is a Blue Grass Style which has Country Bass. The style CTRYKEYS is a Country Style with an emphasis on the keyboard player. The style CLASSTRN is a classical style featuring a piano and violin duet. The abbreviations used in the first four letters of a style name are as follows: BGRS - Blue Grass BLUE - Blues CTRY - Country CLAS - Classical EASY - Ballad FUNK - Funk HROK - Hard Rock JAZZ - Jazz LATN - Latin POP_ - Pop R&B_ - Rhythm and Blues REGG - Reggae ROCK - Rock Window Swapping -The JAMMER actually has two main windows, the tracks window and the measures window. The measures window displays your chord progression in a song book like format. Press ALT W and you should then see the measures window (although we don't have a progression yet). Press ALT W again and you will be back to the tracks window. You can press ALT W or click on the SWAP button at any time to swap back and forth between the tracks and measures window. The F8 key can also be used to swap windows. Let the Jam Begin - The studio is setup, you've loaded a style and your ready to roll. Let's start off and let the JAMMER create a chord progression as well as the music to go along with it. Go to the tracks window and set the progression composer to Comp. The progression composer is on the top line of the tracks window. Get yourself into the measures window so you can see the chord progression when it is created. Ready ... Press F7 or click the mouse on the COMP button at the bottom of your screen and the JAMMER will now create a chord progression, display the chords, write some track parts to fit the chords, and then start playback of the tune. Controlling Playback - To stop playback, press F1 or click the mouse on the STOP button. To start playback again from the current measure press F2 or click the mouse on the play button [ ]. To automatically rewind and start playback press F6 or click the mouse on the REPLAY button. To start playback from a selected measure move the playback cursor with your mouse or arrow keys to the desired measure and then press F2 or click the mouse on play [ ]. You can disable looping if you want to via the Punch Menu (ALT P). Take Two, Three, Four... - Now you know how to playback a piece of music without recomposing any of the parts so that you can review the parts. Now let's let the JAMMER studio musicians cut loose. Press F7 or click your mouse on the COMP button again and the JAMMER will create a new 8 bar progression with new track parts and play it back for you. You can keep recomposing this way over and over again listening for parts you really like and the JAMMER will continue to come up with new progressions and new track parts. If you hear a take you really like and want to hear it again remember to select PLAY or REPLAY since selecting COMP will write new chords and parts over the existing parts. It's a Take -Let's say you've found a chord progression and some track parts you really like and you want to keep them as your 'Verse'. And now you want to create another part for your song. Press ALT P to enter the Punch Menu and you should see a screen like this: ÉÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ[ Punch In/Out Values ]ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ» º º º Compose/Record: [1 ] thru [8 ] º º º º Loop Measures: [1 ] thru [999] º º º º [ ] Triplet Feel º º º º [ ] Disable Looping º º º º º º ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄ· ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄ· º º ³ OK º ³CANCELº º º ÔÍÍÍÍÍͼ ÔÍÍÍÍÍͼ º º º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍͼ Set the Compose/Record punch values to 9 thru 16. Now when you ask the JAMMER to compose (F7 or COMP) measures 1-8 will be left alone and new chords and parts will be generated for measures 9-16. Set the Loop Measures setting to 9 thru 999. Move the cursor to the [ OK ] button and press Enter to exit saving your new settings. What is Loop Measures? - Setting the Loop Measures to 9 thru 16 causes the JAMMER to start playback from measure 9 whenever you select COMP or REPLAY. This way you don't have to hear the entire song each time when you are trying to work on a specific part. If you do wish to hear the song from the beginning you can rewind back to measure 1 and then select PLAY. You may have to select rewind twice though. Rewinding from past the Loop Measure start will rewind to the loop starting point (like a zero return on a tape deck). Rewinding from before or right at the loop starting point will rewind to the beginning of the song. Multiple Parts, Multiple Styles -Just for fun let's load a different style to be used on measures 9-16. Press ALT S and then select Load Style. Pick a new style from the list of styles and press Enter to load it. Now press F7 or select the COMP button and the JAMMER will create a new chord progression and track parts in measures 9-16 while leaving measures 1-8 as they are. Measures 9-16 will be created using the newly selected style while the parts in measures 1-8 remain in the old style. Saving the Keepers -Let's say you've composed measures 9-16 over and over again and you've found a part you really like. The chords are cool, the drums are solid and the rhythm parts are fine, but let's say you'd like to change the bass line around a bit. Press ALT W (or F8) to return to the tracks window. Now take a look at the column labeled 'Mode' at the top. This field governs what will happen to a track when you ask the JAMMER to compose (F7). Tracks with this field set to COMP will be recomposed, tracks set to ERAS will be cleared, and tracks set to KEEP will be left alone. Of course the composing and erasing will only take place on the measures specified in the Punch Menu. Now that you know what that field does, let's set all of our tracks to KEEP since we want to recompose the bass part in measures 9-16 and leave the other tracks as they are. There is a real quick and easy way to do this. Press ALT U and select Set all to Keep to activate the master 'Keep' function. When you do this you will see all of the tracks composer modes get set to 'KEEP'. Looking for the Perfect Bass Run -Now go down and find the bass track (track 1) and set the 'Mode' for it alone back to COMP. Now you are setup to recompose just the bass part on measures 9-16 while keeping your chord progression, drums and rhythm tracks. If you want to see the measures while the music plays flip back to the measures window with an ALT W. Now press F7 or select the COMP button at the bottom of the screen to recompose the bass part and hear the tune played back. You can keep recomposing over and over and the JAMMER will continue to write new bass lines for you while keeping your other tracks the same. Styles Within Styles (Pro Version Only) -Let's say you're like any other power hungry MIDI junkie and you want even more control over the bass player. No problem. Flip back to the tracks window and find the bass track again (track 1). Now move your cursor over to the right to the word STYLE on the bass players track and press Enter. You should now see a screen like this: [0 ] Straight Pop [0 ] Walkin Jazz [ ] Reserved [20 ] Straight Rock [0 ] Jazz Cat [ ] Reserved [0 ] Syncopated Pop [0 ] Simple Man [ ] Reserved [0 ] Syncopated Rock [0 ] Latin [ ] Reserved [0 ] Straight Pump [20 ] Country [ ] Reserved [0 ] Drivin Pump [0 ] Country Half [ ] Reserved [0 ] Cool Funk [0 ] Shuffle [ ] Reserved [0 ] Funk Master [0 ] Rhythm and Blues [ ] Reserved [0 ] Easy Blues [ ] Reserved [ ] Reserved [0 ] Cruisin Blues [ ] Reserved [ ] Reserved C u s t o m P a t t e r n s |-----+-----|-----+-----|-----+-----|-----+-----|-----+----- [0 ] [#-----------------*-----#----------------------- ] [0 ] [#-----------------*-----#----------------------- ] [0 ] [#-----------------*-----#----------------------- ] [0 ] [#-----------------*-----#----------------------- ] The best way to get a feeling for how the bass player writes parts is to keep things simple at first and then start adding more variables. First select a single fundamental bass style like 'Straight Pop' by entering a numerical weight (20 is a good number to start with). Then select 0 percent transitions in the Control Window. Now press F7 or select the COMP button at the bottom of your screen and listen to the part the bass player writes for you. If you compose again you will hear a new part in the same style but a little bit different. You should be able to identify the main groove the bass player is following and also notice that no extra scales and runs are being added. Now enter a zero for 'Straight Pop' an enter a numerical weight by 'Funk Master'. Press F7 or select the COMP button and now you will hear a funk type bass. Once again you can compose over and over again listening to the different parts the bass player writes waiting for one which suits you. Blending Bass Styles (Pro Version Only) - Now that you have a feeling for what 'Straight Pop' and 'Funk Master' sound like, let's try them both at the same time. Enter a 20 by both 'Straight Pop' and 'Funk Master' and then recompose. If you listen closely you will be able to hear the bass player change back and forth from one groove to the other. The Jammin Factor -In a lot of pop and country tunes the bass lines remain fairly simple so as to not distract from the foreground of the production. However, in some tunes you may want to showcase the bass player and increase the complexity of the bass parts. Let's go from one extreme to the other to emphasize this point. Go to the Control Window. Set the transition probability by entering a 100 by Into Chords. Set the Avg. Trans Length to 4 eighth notes by entering a 4. This will make the bass player always transition into chords, using 4 eighth notes or half of a 4/4 measure. You can also make the bass player transition through chords by entering a percentage (0 to 100) in Thru Chords. Now recompose the bass part and listen to the difference. You can vary the percentages for the transitioning into and through chords, the average transition length, the articulation of the transitions (legato, staccato, slap) and the speed/timing of the transitions to create your own styles. If I Could Only Change that Part in Measure Ten -Heres one last Punch In / Out example. Let's say you got a great bass part captured in measures 9-16 but you feel measure 10 could be better. Press Enter to return to the tracks window. Press ALT P to enter the 'Punch Menu' and set the JAMMER to Punch In at Measure 10 and to Punch Out after Measure 10. Choose OK to exit the menu, thereby saving your changes. Now flip back to the Measures Window (ALT W) and press F7 or select the COMP button. The JAMMER will recompose just the bass part on measure 10 and then play the tune back starting at measure 9 (the current working measure). Of course you can keep recomposing and listening until you find the right bass part. Hey, What About My Chord Progression - Using the JAMMER to come up with chord progressions is both useful and fun, but in many cases you may already have your own chord progression in mind. Let's clear out the 16 bars we just created and start from scratch with our own chord progression. Press ALT F to open the Files Menu. Then select the Clear Song menu item. This will erase the current progression and music on all measures on all tracks. The Measures Window will now be empty and the Total Measures count will be 0. Now we must create some empty measures in which to place our chord progression. Press ALT N to create some new measures. This will pop open a window where you can select a time signature and a number of measures to be created within this time signature. Let's say you want to create an 8 bar verse in 4/4 time. Select the 4/4 time signature, enter an '8' for the number of measure desired and then press Enter. The JAMMER will now create 8 empty measures in 4/4 time and display them for you. Editing Chord Progression - To edit a chord progression you must be in the measures window. Move the playback cursor to the measure you wish to work on and then press Enter or double-click the mouse. This will put the JAMMER in Chord Edit Mode and will display a horizontal bar on the first chord position in the measure. You may now enter a chord root and any of the available chord types from the list displayed at the bottom of the screen (i.e. C, Gadd9, Dsus4, D, Em9, Am7). You may also designate a specific root note for the chord by suffixing the chord with a forward slash and the desired root note (i.e. Cm/G, Dm/C, Dm9/A). Once you have entered a chord you may press Enter to move to the next chord position, or press the letter P to move to the previous chord position. When you are through editing chords you may press Esc to exit Chord Edit Mode. Entering Your Lyrics - The JAMMER allows you to enter lyrics for each measure in the measures window. To enter lyrics for a given measure, move the playback cursor to the desired measure and then press the letter L. The JAMMER will open a dialog box allowing you to type in some lyrics for that measure. Press Enter when you have finished entering the lyrics for that measure. Let's Go Stylin - Now let's load a style to create some music for your chord progression. Press ALT S to open the Styles Menu and then select the Load Style menu item. Once again you will be presented a with list of available styles which you can choose from. Select a style and then press Enter. The JAMMER will present you with a message about setting the Composer Modes back to COMP or ERAS because we left most of the tracks on KEEP when we worked on the bass part. Select the default answer of 'NO' (do not keep tracks 1-55 on KEEP). Now you are almost ready to go except for the fact that we left the Composer Punch In and Out on measures 10 through 10 when we worked on the bass part. Its always a good idea to make sure you know where these values are set before you recompose. Press ALT P to enter the Punch Menu. Set the Punch In to measure 1 and the Punch Out to measure 8. You also need to set 'Loop Measures' back to measure 1 so playback will automatically start there after composing. Now you're ready to jam again. Press Enter to return to the tracks window. Press F7 or select the COMP button to compose measures 1-8. The JAMMER will compose a part for you and then play the 8 measures back. You may want to keep loading different styles and recomposing to see what style fits your chord progression the best. Keep in mind the JAMMER will continue to come up with different parts each time you recompose, even under the same style with the same chord progression. Sequencing Made Easy -Let's say you found 8 measures of music you wish to keep and now you want to repeat these eight measures. Press ALT E to open the Edit Menu and then select the 'Copy Song Msrs' menu item. This selection allows you to sequence entire chunks of the song with ease. Now you want to fill in the blanks to do the following: Copy from Measures 1 Thru 8 to Measure 1, Repeating this procedure 1 time in INSERT mode. When you have filled in the blanks as described, press Enter and the JAMMER will perform the copy for you. You will then see that your total measures have gone up to 16 and that your parts in measures 1-8 match those in measures 9-16. INSERT mode cause the JAMMER to shift things down and make room for the new piece being copied. Selecting OVERWRITE mode during a copy will cause the JAMMER to copy the designated chunk of the song right on top of the destination measures replacing them instead of shifting them down to make room for the new piece. Let's do one last quick example to illustrate this. Let's say in the first verse (measures 1-8) you wanted to repeat the first two measures four times instead of playing the eight measures that are currently there. To overwrite the first eight measures with measures 1-2 do the following: Press ALT E to open the Edit Menu and then select 'Copy Song Msrs'. Now fill in the Copy Song Measures screen as follows: Copy from Measures 1 Thru 2 to Measure 1, Repeating this procedure 4 times in OVERWRITE mode. This will start at measure 1 and lay down four copies of the music currently at measures 1-2. The existing music and chord progression in measures 1-8 will be overwritten with the new repeated part. Deleting Measures - Let's say you decide you no longer want measures 9-16 in the tune at all. To delete these measures press ALT E to open the Edit Menu and then select the 'Delete Song Msrs' menu item. This selection allows you to delete entire chunks of the song with ease. Now you want to fill in the blanks to do the following: Delete Measures 9 Thru 16 When you have filled in the blanks as described, press Enter and the JAMMER will remove measures 9-16. You will now see that your total measures have gone back down to 8. Give Me a Good Count ... - Let's say you've completed measures 1-8 of your tune all except for laying down some fill parts and a lead break. If you are going to be recording from the start of the tune you will need a metronome to give you a lead in count. To create metronome count press ALT M and the JAMMER will ask you how many quarter note beats for the metronome, what track to play the metronome with (default it hihat, but try the sticks on track 55), and the velocity for the metronome. Recording Your Lead Break and Fills - Since the JAMMER uses tracks 1-55 to compose parts under the various styles it is best to record your own parts in tracks 56-256. Move to the track that you wish to record on and choose a patch. Your part will be recorded to this track on the measures specified by the punch control. If you are recording in the middle of a song, the JAMMER will start playback 2 measures before the Punch In setting. You are ready to roll now. All you need to do is rewind (F3) to the beginning of the tune and press F5 or select the REC button at the bottom of your screen. The JAMMER will then begin playback of the tune and record your part on your selected track as it goes. The playback will stop automatically when you reach the designated Punch Out Measure. To hear your part replayed press F6 or select the REPLAY button at the bottom of your screen. You may want to check your recorded track in the tracks window to make sure it is being played on the proper MIDI channel. If I Could Only Re-Record My Part on Measure Five -Let's say the recording went fine but you want to record measure 5 over and leave the rest of your recording as it is. Press ALT P to enter the Punch Menu and then set Punch In/Out to 5 thru 5. Now press Enter to exit the menu saving your settings. You are ready to roll again. All you need to do is press F5 or select the REC button to start recording. The JAMMER will only record your playing during measure five leaving the other measures untouched. Remember to Eat and Get Some Sleep - Now you're ready to create a masterpiece and have a ton of fun at the same time. Just try to remember to stop and eat every now and then and try to get some sleep at least once a day. Have fun jammin.
