Version 1.05beta.3 ------------------ New command line option : /FV. If you have a bogus video card which doesn't like the way my program switches (or tries to switch) to the old video mode after playing a file, use the FV (short for funky VGA) switch and it will NOT try to switch back to the video mode after playing. Simply put the MODE command in your batch file for playing the particular to switch back. The incredible changing tag marker in 43/50 line mode problem has been fixed. The "Play Tagged MODS" (even if not MODS) has been changed to "Play Tagged Files". Small error in ARJ scanning caused it to freak on older ARJ files with crap at the end (EOF markers). The remains of the exploding uncompressing box are no longer left on the screen. Because the aborting a tagged play run was kind of hard to abort, I put in a five second pause between playing. Space or ESC will abort it the tagged play run, and any other key will abort the pausing. Version 1.05beta.2 ------------------ "Can't erase the MOD" message changed to reflect actual extension. Errors (such as disk full) which occured while swapping are handled better. X-MASTER will now check for available disk space before attempting to uncompress a file. New swapping method! The window we all grew to love is now gone, and we have a full screen swap. I am using the same spawning routine in Binkley. It should work with everything... Provided of course that you have enough memory to begin with... ZIPS which had additional files besides the extensioned files would not be read right. The swapping routine is way different now. I threw out the old stuff, and added Thomas Wagner's routine to swap to EMS/XMS/Disk and it works great. This resulted in the loss of the swapping window, but with the added memory, it was definitely worth it. I added a new environment variable to be read if you want the swap file to put in a certain place. Use "SET TEMP=" to force the swap file to go somewhere else. The default location is the startup directory given via the command line or the default directory. You may also use TMP. X-MASTER reads these as the same thing. Note : It ONLY swaps to disk if it can't find the memory (approx. 128k). All kinds of mouse errors are fixed. Can't be helped, I don't use a mouse. :-) Version 1.05beta.1 ------------------ NOTE!!!! --- This is NOT a drop in replacement! You will be forced to start over on the rescans, so drop to dos, get into your X-MASTER directory and type in "DEL XM-*.C*". This will remove all the config files. Sorry 'bout that! But the changes are worth it. New keys defined for those of you who like the keyboard interface, and want more intuitive hotkeys. The Alt keys are defined for all the menu functions. They are as follows for F1 - F10 respectively = Alt-H (Help), Alt-C (Change Directory), Alt-E (New Extension), Alt-D (Delete), Alt-O (Order / Sort), Alt-N (New player), Alt-R (Rescan), Alt-M (Make Master List), Alt-U (Use Master List), and Alt-Q (Quit). This might seem easier to remember... New help system was added. More efficient and better... The ability to find the file by hitting the first letter would not accept numbers. Now it does... X-MASTER had a bug where after you played a file, it would shrink the screen by one line. This has been fixed... Delete function would delete the whole archive even if others were contained in there... This could result in you losing all your files. This has been fixed, however, you MUST use ARJ 2.30 if you wish this function to work with ARJ's. This function however does NOT work with PKZIP! This is Phil Katz' fault. If you remove the last file from a ZIP, PKZIP will leave that ZIP as a ZIP file with only a header. It is a ZIP with no files! All other archivers clean up after themselves. If this happens, you know why. Just delete the empty ZIP if you run into this problem... Fixed bug on opening screen when starting in line mode greater than 25. Added a new bottom status line which has either the file stats, or the archived file comments. This offers you an alternative to sometime cryptic eight letter filenames. The down side of this is, 1) LZH's don't support commented files; 2) ZIP file scanning time is increased a bit. I recommend a cache rather strongly now... ARJ users will not suffer any increase in scanning time. Fixed bug in deleting the last file from an ARJ. New command = Alt-S, or F11 will bring up a status window of the currently displayed file. It will give you most of the info that is on the screen anyway, as well as which archive it is in. Due to the poor amount of registrations, I have elected to give my registered users a bonus in this program. This is the feature shown above. Unregistered users still have the option of hitting Alt-S to see the descriptions, but registered users can view the status on the bottom. Furthermore, I realize most of you use this program for MOD files, so in addition to the status line feature, registered users will receive a program which will extract the MOD files' title and place it in the comment field of the archive. This feature allows you to see the title of the song before you play it. Register, you'll like it... Version 1.04 ------------ Fixed bug which made the master list mess up. (It returned a Runtime Error 100, or a Runtime Error 102) Thanks to Chris Prater for pointing this out! Version 1.03 ------------ Cosmetic changes really. One guy kept bitching about me not clearing the screen at the beginning despite my request for him to start it from a batch file and run a CLS command right before running my program, but he was really persistant and said to make a Quicken type background screen; hence the new opening screen. I think it looks really cool. The cryptic "Select New BATch file" has been changed to "Select New Player." That's what it does for all the music/graphics programs so it seemed like a nice enough name. The major change in this version is it will detect bad archives. If you at one point or another got a bad zip / lzh / arj file, you noticed my program gave a runtime error 100. This has been changed. It will now pause with an error message, stating the file, and then continue on its merry way. However, just because it makes through an archive's files doesn't mean the archive is perfect. My program only views the files, it doesn't do ANY integrity checking. Furthermore, starting with this version, I am including many example batch files. I hope you experiment with the program enough and give them a shot. You'll probably like them, provided you have the programs. Version 1.02 ------------ It seems the bugs weren't fixed after all! Anyway, I believe they are fixed now, and as usual, report any differing opinions to me on one of the support boards. The directory thing was the only thing not working actually, and I think it is fixed for good. I also forgot to change the version number in v1.01, which is done in this version. Version 1.01 ------------ Lonnie Hortick found a bug in which if you didn't have the files compressed, it would delete all your files. Thanks Lonnie! Also, if you specified a directory as a directory to uncompress, it wouldn't allow it. Both are fixed. Version 1.0 ----------- Those of you updating from TRAKMASTER v2.0 or so must rename all your TM-*.* files to XM-*.*, and your TRAKMAST.CFG to XMASTER.CFG. That's it... The reason for the name change is so people wouldn't think of my program for only TRAKBLASTER. Too limiting...
