TapeWare 6.0 Quick Installation

 TapeWare Version   Revised   Revised by
 6.00   14 August 1997   br

This is what you need to know in order to install TapeWare:

  1. TapeWare 6.0 requires that your SCSI adapter's ASPI driver be loaded and that the adapter and all devices are functioning properly before TapeWare is installed,

  2. Each platform (Windows 95/NT, NetWare, DOS) requires a separate install.

  3. TapeWare 6.0 requires a Database Zone, so choose where you want the Database Zone to reside and install that platform first.

  4. Steps to install:
    • Windows 95/NT - If you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.00, insert the CD in your CD-ROM drive. If "Autorun" is enabled Setup.EXE will start; if not, double-click Setup.EXE on the CD.
If you are running Windows NT 3.51, change the drive to the CD-ROM drive and type Setup. For example:
        C:> D: [ENTER]
      D:> Setup [ENTER]
    • NetWare - If you have a CD-ROM drive attached to the file server, mount the CD-ROM as Volume TAPEWARE and type LOAD TAPEWARE:INSTALL. For example:
        SERVER: CD MOUNT TAPEWARE [ENTER]
      SERVER: LOAD TAPEWARE:INSTALL [ENTER]
    • DOS - Change to the CD-ROM drive and type INSTALL. For example, if your CD-ROM is D:
        C:> D: [ENTER]
      D:> INSTALL [ENTER]
If you do not have a CD-ROM drive attached to the file server, you must create an install directory on the server and copy the install program to that directory. For example:
        C:> MD F:\TWINS [ENTER]
      C:> MD TWINS\NET [ENTER]
      C:> COPY D:\INSTALL.NLM F:\TWINS [ENTER]
      C:> COPY D:\NET\*.* F:\TWINS\NET [ENTER]
    • When asked, enter your Keycode from the back of the CD Jewel Case. (If installing the Windows version, enter your name and Company name.) Select the proper transport for your network. Now select "Create a New Zone" and either give the Zone a name, or accept the default name. Don't skip this step. Don't say you want to "join a Zone." NO Zone exists at this point and TapeWare will NOT function properly.)
    • Complete the installation, and when through, start TapeWare:
      1. Windows 95/NT click on the desktop icon.
      2. NetWare enter TWADMIN at the server console.
      3. DOS change to the TapeWare directory and enter TWADMIN.
    • Click, or press Enter, on the "Database Zone" box to make sure a Zone exists. If the Zone exists continue to login; if not, reinstall TapeWare following the above instructions.
    • The default login name is ADMIN. There is no password.
    • Install the remaining Platforms and select "Join an existing Zone" when asked. Choose the Zone you created during the initial installation.
