[Note: The SX version is superimposed on the stack display, which looks really cool, and is exited by pressing ON. The GX version is exited by pressing DROP (backarrow); if a lot of keystrokes are in the buffer, it may take a long time to exit, so press ON to empty the buffer and then press backarrow and wait for one backflip to finish. Both versions use + to speed up and - to slow down, but it's incremental, one keystroke per backflip, so be patient. -jkh-] Randy. @@BRAID SG Three cylinders twisting together. See the KNOT document for details. @@DEMO3D S- S/SX only!!! Causes instant Memory Clear on G/GX!!! Rotating wire-frame cube with pyramid inside. Impresses the heck out of people who ask what the HP-48 can do. By "Larry, thanks to ETI". (??) Doc by -jkh- Press arrow keys to control rotation speed. Initially, the four keys push the *far* side of the cube in the direction of the arrow. Each press accelerates the spin. Press back-arrow to exit to credit screen; then ON exits. @@GUTS SG Guts, by Chris Campbell. Guts is a little User RPL program that fills the screen with a random tunneling pattern that bears some resemblance to its namesake. It's not very fast, but it's not all that big either, and it's fun to watch! [Nasty tip from my students: beam this into your friend's HP48 with a control alarm that'll run it after a few minutes. Makes 'em freak out! -jkh-] @@HULA SG 12-frame movie of a girl using a hula hoop, by Erick Hammersmark. This is a bit of video I converted from an MPEG. The animation is of a girl using a hula hoop. The quality is not great, but it looks pretty good if you hold it at arms length. :-) I can make more of these if there is interest, and will happily describe the simple process to anyone interested in doing it themselves. Included in the directory are: the 12 GROBs that make up the animation; ANIM by Carl Robert Gibbons, for viewing the animation on an S(X); GO, to start the animation on an S(X); GOGX, to start the animation on a GX. The difference between GO and GOGX is that GOGX uses the ANIMATE command instead of Mr. Gibbons' ANIM. Note: I have altered ANIM to disable the ticking clock display while the program is running; having the clock enabled causes problems when single-stepping through an animation. [Exit the SX version by pressing DROP (backarrow); exit the GX version by pressing ON. -jkh-] Qapla' Erick Hammersmark ehammers@u.washington.edu AA7JO @@KNOT SG KNOT and BRAID By John G. Stebbins CompuServe 75320,3000 August 29, 1993 Each of these HP48 files is a directory containing an example of the HP48GX's parametric ploting functions. These examples were inspired when I looked at the example in the built-in 'EXAMPLES' directory and was quite disapointed. I decided to try something more challenging and came up with these two equation sets. KNOT is a torus that loops back on itself and is tied in a simple overhand knot. BRAID is three cylinders twisted together in a standard braiding pattern. Each directory contains a list of the GROBs for the animation and a program called SEEIT which runs the animation. Also in each directory are the programs, equations and settings variables used to create the animation. For compatibility with the HP48SX the SEEIT program determines whether it is being executed on a GX or SX and either uses the inbuilt ANIMATE function on the GX or the program ANIM inlcuded in both directories. To exit the animation on a GX press the ON key, on an SX press any other key. @@USA SG USA by Joe Horn, for HP48 S/SX/G/GX A Tribute to Betsy Ross and Francis Scott Key Written as an example of the power of the software on the Goodies Disks. Using just a PC and an HP48, this program was completely written, from conception of the idea to the final product that you see and hear here, in just 20 minutes. Press ON when you're ready to sit down. Not really an animation... but long may it wave! -jkh-
