If there are any vocabulary * * updates they will be noted here. * The Main 'Manual' is called WOMBAT.MAN Type it on screen or print it out by entering: Copy Wombat.Man prn: I suggest that you glance at the manual before playing the game, but if you'd prefer not to, then the game may be started by typing (at the DOS prompt): Wombat .PB << * Please Note... * >> If you haven't read the manual, you should at least glance through it now for notes on the SAVE and RESTORE feature when used in conjunction with Memory Resident Programs. If you have a colour monitor or if you don't like the 'look' of the game for any reason, the colours may be altered by using the SetUp program. Enter the word: Setup at the Dos prompt. Once in Setup you can't break out until you've finished. But don't worry if you change your mind about your colour choices. You'll be given the chance to ignore them when Setup completes. .PB << Bugs....??? >> ................ugh! While I've done all I can to eliminate bugs, 'The Golden Wombat' has not undergone months of rigorous testing by an army of dedicated gnomes. I cannot, therefore, guarantee that it will behave itself properly under all possible circumstances. .PB If you experience any major technical problems: 1: Check that you have all the files necessary for the game on your play disc. 2: Check that it's not a 'save/restore' matter as noted in the manual. Else... If the problem is more obscure then maybe the Wombat is not as watertight as it should be. Accept my apologies and try loading the game 'clean' - i.e. make sure it is the first and only program in memory after switching on the computer. That way it can't pick up any of the 'fluff' that may be lurking around from other programs. I hope you don't come across any problems like that. But I'm copping out now just in case you do... .PB << A Checklist of the files on this disc >> On the next page there is a full directory ( not including the file you are currently reading, which is called 'Read.Txt' ): .PB File Name File Size WOMBAT COM 50462 NEW_ADV 000 4864 NEW_ADV 001 71168 NEW_ADV 002 2816 NEW_ADV 003 5120 NEW_ADV 004 4096 NEW_ADV 005 16896 NEW_ADV 006 7680 R DAT 1008 O DAT 1000 T DAT 1000 REC DAT 1532 WOMBAT MAN 17763 COLOURS2 ALT 59 COLOURS3 ALT 61 COLOURS ALT 58 READ COM 12808 SETUP COM 20828 .PB To quit the game, type 'Q' (then 'Y' when asked to). ( maybe ) To comfort anyone who feels unhappy that there is no score in The Golden Wombat, here is a short and helpful note to help you know when you've arrived at the game's conclusion... If you are in any doubt, you're still not there... OK...? .PB Special thanks to Sean Casey for testing and John Kozak who suggested the name of the game over the third pint one fateful night... Good wombatting... Huw
