This is a two disc, early release of FreeBSD 3.0 for those who wish
to track FreeBSDs ongoing development.
New Features:Secure RPC is now supported and usable with NFS. Suns WEBNFS standard is now supported. VM86 support has been added to the kernel and BSD/OSs contributed dosemu (/usr/src/usr.bin/doscmd) has been ported. An implementation of poll (2) is now available. Async IO is implemented (under non-SMP at this stage) with additional support for kernel assisted threads. The timeout (9) system in the kernel has been substantially overhauled. A new VGA library (/usr/src/lib/libvgl) now exists for doing simple VGA graphics to syscons ttys, similar to Linuxs libSVGA. Plus many more new features. |
