QUICK START: 1) Load the Realistic Video Poker program 2) Press any key at title screen 3) Press 'M' for money 4) Press 'C' to deposit one coin 5) Press the SPACE BAR to deal cards 6) Press 1-5 to mark the cards to hold 7) Press the SPACE BAR to draw new cards 8) (goto step 4) ABOUT THE GAME: Realistic Video Poker (RVP here after) was designed to be as close to the casino game as possible in both play and graphics. No cute stuff, though, like "pick up a coin with the mouse then drop it in the slot". Then "mouse" all over the screen (and desk) to click the cards you want to hold. RVP is played with only one hand on the keyboard. In a very short time you will find that you don't have to look away from the screen anymore to play the next hand or to correct a miss-typed HOLD button. Simply speaking, RVP lets you think about your strategy. PLAYING THE GAME: Once the game is loaded, the title screen will be displayed. Press any key to move on to the game. You start off with no credits (no money). To get your bank roll of 80 coins ($20 in quarters) press the 'M' key. (Note: Only works when you are totally out of coins). All versions of RVP below 3.0 require that you sit though a 15 second advertisement about the game when ever you receive more coins. Once you have the poker screen back again, you will be presented with a pay-off chart at the top off the screen, five cards face down in the middle and your current financial status at the bottom. Press the 'C' key to deposit one coin in the machine. The first box in the pay-off chart will turn yellow indicating the number of coins currently deposited in the machine for this hand. Press the SPACE BAR when you have entered the number of coins you wish to play and RVP will deal you your hand. Enter all five coins and RVP will press the SPACE BAR for you (just like many of the casino machines). If you play the odds and always enter all five coins simply press the 'F' key. In which case, the fifth box in the pay-off chart will light, RVP will press the SPACE BAR for you, and five cards will be turned face up. At this point, use the 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 keys to indicate the cards you would like to HOLD. Press the SPACE BAR to discard the rest. RVP will then pay-off any winning hand as shown in the pay- off chart and every thing start all over again. As mentioned above, RVP was designed to be played with one hand. Our method involves positioning the four fingers of your left hand across the 1,2,3,4 keys. The index finger also handles the 5 key and the 'F' key while the thumb operates the SPACE BAR. Using you left hand may seem a little awkward at first but what this method dose is allow your right hand to be free to keep notes or to hold you place in one of the many book available on how to play video poker. Anytime, before a hand is dealt, you may press the HELP key for a reminder of the commands RVP excepts. The help screen will also appear if three unknown key commands have been pressed.
