PARK_HD.ACC by Dick Lee April 2, 1989 PARK_HD.ACC is my first attempt at programming the hard disk controller (HDC) in Pascal. The program was written with OSS Personal Pascal. I guess I should mention that portions of PARK_HD.ACC, mainly the library routines, are copyrighted by OSS and CCD. This program has been placed into the public domain as FREEWARE. I wrote this program as a result of being tired of searching for the head parking program (that came with the hard disk), closing any windows displaying the directory of a hard disk partition, and then running the parking program every time I turned off my hard disk. This accessory will park your hard disk's head in it's shipping position. As with other parking programs, once you have parked the head, you SHOULD NOT access any partition of the hard disk... you'll hear weird noises and see some strange garbage on your window. After PARK_HD.ACC has been selected, the head will be parked, and a dialog box will appear telling you so. The LED on the hard disk WILL STAY LIT (at least on my SH204), as a reminder that the hard disk head has been parked. DON'T WORRY, your hard disk isn't doing anything. You can now turn your hard disk off. You should only need to execute this accessory once per session. If you forgot something and wish to access the hard disk again, you should first turn off the hard disk and then turn it back on again; this will move the head back out. I have only tested this program using one SH204 hard disk; however, it should work with multiple hard disks. If you have any questions or any suggestions, please send me a message; my Compuserve PPN is [72717,1603]. Dick.
