Edwin Educational Software The Brief Guide This is the condensed version of our Edwin manual. Please inquire if you would like a copy of the full manual. * Register the student and begin at level 0. Choose Edwin Addition by double clicking the mouse while pointing at the Penguin with a '+' sign. Click on the top bar where it says 'Options'. Click the 'Level' button which says '0-5'. Click the 'Mode' button which says 'Tutorial'. Click the mouse button in the name area and enter a name. Click the 'Save' button in the lower right corner. Click the 'Exit' button in the lower right. * Click the top bar where it says 'Tutorial' or type the letter 'T'. Pick a number by clicking while pointing to the number buttons in the lower left, or type any number on your keyboard. Check your answer by clicking while pointing to the answer button or press the enter key. Review all the options on the right hand buttons by pointing at them and clicking with the mouse. For more information, click 'Help' on the main menu option bar. * When the student has done over 20 problems and has a score of over 100 (a penguin will have appeared), he is ready to move on. * When the 'reward' is in progress, you may terminate it at any time by using any mouse command. * By going to the 'Option' on the top bar, change the mode to 'Test'. Let the student continue the tutorial. Change the mode to Standard. Let the student continue. Change the level to 1 and the mode to tutorial. In this fashion, by advancing one level or mode every time a score is over 100, the student will eventually progress through the final level and be ready for Edwin Subtraction. * Before beginning all this in deadly earnest, we encourage all teachers and students to play with the program and try try the various options and combinations.
