SPEAKOFF -------- The ATARI Falcon 030 has got a built-in speaker which produces very loud and terrible sounding output after the computer is powered on (why such a small mono-speaker for the F030...) You are able to switch it off using GENERAL.CPX, but this won't have any effect on programs in the AUTO-folder (because GENERAL.CPX is called by the desktop). So SPEAKOFF is a (very) little programm for the AUTO-folder that switches the internal speaker of the F030 off. When the SHIFT-key is pressed, SPEAKOFF will not influence the speaker. The program BOOTSOFF.PRG allows you to install a bootsector with the same routine on a disk. Just select on which drive (if you have more than one) you want to install the SPEAKOFF-bootsector, and BOOTSOFF will do it for you. But don't forget that you can't install it on disks that already have an executable bootsector without destroying the old one (BOOTSOFF will warn you in that case)! SPEAKOFF uses a non-documented feature to switch the internal speaker off, but since GENERAL.CPX uses the same method, there shouldn't occur any problems. Nevertheless, I do not undertake any responsibility on damages which occur after the use of this program or a disk with the SPEAKOFF-bootsector, run it at your own risk! SPEAKOFF may be freely distributed, the only condition is that all files (SPEAKOFF.PRG, BOOTSOFF.PRG and SPEAKOFF.TXT) are copied completely and unchanged (archiving is allowed).
