E M A S S H A M H O T L I N E ( 6 1 7 ) 4 3 7 - 0 1 1 1 The ARRL Eastern Mass. Public Information HOTLINE in Boston has a 24 hour answerphone. The phone is available for all types of Ham Public Information. Here is a brief rundown of some of the uses for this multi-purpose HAM HOTLINE. You could do this in your area too. HAMS should call: *To add class or exam session information to our data base. *To alert us to an active HAM related news story (with freqs., names, situations). *To make themselves available to Press and Media (for interviews, pictures, info) during a HAM involved situation. Just monitoring the communications (and possibly recording them) is of great importance. *For help in promoting your club activities and achievements and our hobby. PROSPECTIVE HAMS can call: *To get the ARRL prospective HAM mailing and list of local HAM clubs. *To get the location of local Ham classes or exam sessions. PRESS and MEDIA can call: *To get any HAM related information they are looking for. This is important particularly during disaster/emergency situations where HAMS are involved with the communications. The more we have readily available for Radio, TV, Newspapers, Magazines and Cable TV the more positive Public Exposure we can get for our hobby. (617) 4 3 7 - 0 1 1 1 PLEASE keep the number handy and pass it along to your club members and ham friends. This is a Boston number with an answerphone 24 hours a day. DOES YOUR CLUB SPONSOR HAM CLASSES? Prospective hams are looking for a place to learn about our hobby. If your club does not sponsor classes please consider it. If you do and your classes are not full then please let us help, we have suggestions and ideas. And when prospective hams are ready, they need exam sessions and then Elmers to help them on their way.
