Revised: 08 March 1988 TNC-2 Software Release 1.1.5 Notes ---------------------------------- This document describes the differences between the latest release 1.1.5 and the previous (1.1.4) release of TAPR software for the TNC- 2 Terminal Node Controller. The new object image occupies almost 0x45FF bytes of EPROM. The reported checksum on powerup is $BE for the standard release. If you have the TAPR release with the Hex Loader, the checksum re- ported will be $D6. Note that you must type the letter "H" to tell the TNC to run the standard TAPR software every time you power up if you are using this release. If you have the TAPR release with the KISS option, the checksum reported will be $85. To operate KISS with this release, enter the command KISS ON, then the command RESTART (NOT RESET!). The return to normal operation, enter the command PARAM AX0 255 at the NET> prompt if you are running the KA9Q TCP/IP software package. NEW COMMANDS ------------ BBSMSGS ON|OFF default: OFF This command controls how the TNC displays certain messages in com- mand and CONVERSE modes. The messages affected are described below: MESSAGE EFFECT WHEN BBSMSGS ON ------- ---------------------- *** CONNECTED to xxxx - A newline is added just before the "***" *** DISCONNECTED - " " *** retry limit exceeded - " " *** xxxx Busy - " " *** FRMR sent - " " *** FRMR rcvd - " " *** Connect request: xxxx - This message is omitted The BBSMSGS command is primarily useful for host operation, pri- marily with W0RLI and like bulletin board systems that require link status messages to begin in the first output column. The connect request message is omitted during BBSMSGS mode. This should be most useful for preventing corruption of messages when forwarding with small frames. TXTMO counter default: 0 TXTMO is a new addition to the TNC health-group. This register may accumulate counts as the TNC succesfully recovers from HDLC trans- mitter timeouts. This not a useful command for the majority of users. FIXES ----- o - Release 1.1.4 suffered from a spurious condition where the HDLC transmitter would time out. When this happened, TXQOVFLW would typically show a non-zero count. Release 1.1.5 incorporates an HDLC transmitter timeout feature to capture and recover from the timeout error. o - DWAIT operation has been fixed THE PACKET REVOLUTION CONTINUES!
