Final totals (roughly): BAND QSO MULT OPS ----------------------------- 160 47 31 W3EKT 80 235 80 W3LPL 40 430 90 N3GB, KC3EK 20 1700 147 WA8MAZ, K3RA 15 1930 151 WB2EKK, N8II 10 1800 153 WB3JRU, K1RZ, KF3P Total Score: 11.8M, beating our record from last year. Conditions were FB (you had a big signal, EI7M!) on the high bands, although 20 daytime really suffered from the high MUF. The low bands were really noisy, altough you wouldn't know it from the QSOs. We used 6 PCs, one for each band, I think 3 XTs and 3 386 machines, running CT in the multi-multi mode, connected to the W3LPL PVRC Packetcluster. What a blast, we were passing multipliers from band to band all weekend. My best story of the weekend: the last few hours of the contest were pretty slow on 15 after EU died down, and the JAs were at work since it was Monday there. We ran around vacuuming the bands, but with 1/2 hour to go I decided to call CQ until the contest was over. Worked a few JAs, and then XU8DX called me! I asked her to move to 10 M, said QRZ? and then V85AA called! He wouldn't go to 10, but we picked up some quick last minute juicy mults. Both would have been new countries for me if I had been using my call!! 73 John WB2EKK ------------------------------ Date: 6 Mar 91 16:18:55 GMT From: pacific.mps.ohio-state.edu!zaphod.mps.ohio-state.edu!swrinde!cs.utexas.edu!evax!utacfd!letni!rwsys!kf5iw!k5qwb!lrk@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu (Lyn R. The constitution of the United States is such a law. You are the government. Why are you letting petty bureaucrats do these things? A free country doesn't need secret police anyway. Why do they care who listens? I've been watching and never found a criminal who was any good at monitoring police and using it to his advantage. --------- 73, lrk utacfd.utarl.edu!letni!rwsys!kf5iw!k5qwb!lrk P.O. To: info-hams@UCSD.EDU A DXer in one of those exotic Asian countries asked me for some help in getting some QSL cards printed. Suspecting that his annual income is probably more like my weekly income, I decided to buy him a couple of thousand. My question is, how do I send them? Is anyone familiar with the costs sending say 9 Lbs (or 4 kilos) from the US to the far east via air? Is it terribly expensive? Is there any other option besides ordinary "surface" mail? I know that surface mail from Europe seems to run 8-10 weeks; I can imagine that to a small island it might be 4-6 months. Suggestions appreciated. 73 /Chris, AA6SQ ------------------------------ Date: 6 Mar 91 11:16:15 GMT From: zaphod.mps.ohio-state.edu!swrinde!cs.utexas.edu!news-server.csri.toronto.edu!utgpu!watserv1!wkirk@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu (Bill KirkD.c.s.Mc1087 x6456) Subject: wanted scanner frequencies To: info-hams@ucsd.edu i am attempting to set up a database for scanner frequencies. anyone who wishes to share their frequencies and/or suggestions on how i should set up the database please e-mail me at wkirk@watdcs.uwaterloo.ca i am looking for frequencies for ontario, canada and any other people care to send. especially other canadian provinces. thanks wkirk@watdcs.uwaterloo.ca wkirk@watserv1.uwaterloo.ca ------------------------------ End of Info-Hams Digest ******************************
