BytD Fserv

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: BytD Fserv 1.1

Format: Win OS

Description: A fairly basic fileserver script. The settings can be configured through the channel, status and nicklist popups. The addon allows you to set the channel, trigger, directory and welcome message for the fileserver offer. There is also the standard advertising timer. You may "blacklist" up to 5 different nicks so that they won't be able to use your fileserver. The entire script is composed of a single remote file. It doesn't really have any instructions, but once you have loaded it, you shouldn't have too many problems figuring out how it works. The popups are clean and well sorted. From what I can tell, the script works alright .. but it doesn't have that many features IMHO and could use a bit more error checking. The timers and such should have been silenced and the author should have required the input of a fileserver directory before allowing a user to trigger the fileserver in question. The coding needs to be improved ... as I mentioned before, certain commands need to be silenced. In addit

CD-Pro Audio Player

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: CD-Pro Audio Player 1

Format: Win OS

Description: mIRC CD Player with dialog interface that uses the Media Control Interface DLL by DragonZap. The documentation of the addon is respectably detailed, giving installation instructions in addition to possible "bugs" (problems that the author can't solve), contact information and general history of the addon. The addon itself is very easy to use. The dialog interface is clean and easily understandable and can be reached through the menubar popups or by typing /cd. The script works very well. Since everything "internal" is handled by the DLL, there's not that much coding to comment upon. Everything that is done in the mIRC Scripting language is the interface. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who doesn't view the use of outside apps very well *wince*. You have options such as creating a playlist, repeat, etc. (with the exception of shuffle, all the Windows CD Player controls appear to be available). I noticed that the "Stop CD on Exit" option did not appear to work. The CD continued playing af

CTalk

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: CTalk 5.8

Format: Win OS

Description: Addon that allows you to in certain colours of a choice by using aliases. You can also chose to have random underline or bold inside the text. Instead of a specific style, there are also the options of using random colours for every line, word or letter. The addon has a nice readme file that gives installation instructions and that also gives a few explanations on how to use the addon. The dialog interface for chosing the options is clean and easy to use. The custom window that you use to chose the set colour style is easy to use, working very much like the Ctrl + K dialog colour popup box for mIRC. But this one also takes into account background colours and doesn't close right after entering one colour. The addon seems to work fairly well except for 2 points. First of all, the random colour per word appears to run into problems when combined with random underline/bold. Instead of underlining a colour on random, it underlines the number of the colour so that the result may resemble something l

Calculator

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Calculator 1

Format: Win OS

Description: A little addon that's essentially a custom window that serves as a basic calculator (addition, division, multiplication and subtraction only). The author didn't put much on the documentation aspect of the script. However, it's fairly easy to use (being a picture window). You simply have to click on the appropriate buttons. The window can be opened through the query, channel or menubar popups. The author might have included that in his On LOAD echo. This addon works well, but is very basic. One of the options that the author might consider adding for his next version is the dot for the decimals. Also, at the moment, you can't use the results of your last calculation for the next one, but have to retype all the numbers instead. There are also no brackets (to decide what goes first, etc.), but as I said, for what it's meant to do, it works well, only that it's limiting. As for the scripting, the only comment that I have is that the author might have considered using local aliases. But everything

Calculatrice E D 48 Gx

Category: Networking, IRC Tools, mIRC Addon Scripts

Title: Calculatrice E D 48 Gx 2

Format: Win OS

Description: French calculator addon script for mIRC. Lots of other functions as well such as converter for length, area, money, pression, temperature, volume, etc.). Also allows you to trace graphics, play the snake eating apple game, etc. The addon does have a readme file (in French of course ;). Basically it informs you to unload the contents of the *.zip file into the mIRC directory. In the end, you end up with a remote file in the main mIRC directory and a directory called "Calc". The entire calculator is done through dialog windows. There are a number of mathematic functions such as sin, cos, tan, arcsin, arccos, arctan and various odds and ends. The converters and the games/graphic tracer are under a seperate dialog window. Most of the addon runs just fine and dandy .. :o) But there are a few things that need improvement IMHO. For example, the graphic tracer sets a default of a Y(min) and Y(max) of 0. Meaning basically that you won't see the graphic much. More error checking for this type of setting
