SpeedFile.txt
-------------

Since v 1.7 Beta 4, Custom CD Menu has the option to create a SpeedFile that will speed up cd.pet decoding 10 - 100 times.
Generally speaking you will not use this option for 10 - 20 'file=' entries, but when the cd.pet file becomes larger, the Speed Improvement could come in handy.

cd.pet is limited to 1500 'file=' entries.
When you have a cd.pet file with (near to) or so many 'file=' entries, decoding is Hell (takes a long time).
For these long cd.pet files, the Speedimprovement will mean an almost 100 times faster decoding time.

This exra file can increase speed because it contains only a few elementary entries. It therefore needs to work very closely with the cd.pet file. The Speedfile can not work alone ! It still needs the cd.pet file.

The SpeedFile Option should be used with CAUTION, because of the relation between speedfile and cd.pet !
If cd.pet file changes and the speedfile is already created, things could get completely messed up !!

So, to resume (The hard facts) :
--------------------------------

- The SpeedFile Option Creation is only available when the program is started in 'create mode.
This mode can be achieved with the command line parameter -create (example in create.bat file).
  - The Speedfile creation is activated by pressing the Chrono-button.
- Once the Speedfile exists, it is taken in account (in create mode OR Not, doesn't matter).
- The Speedfile-name becomes the content file-name with the extension .bin (Mostly this will be : cd.bin)
- This file is created in the same directory where the content file is located.
- For the speedfile to be taken in account, it needs to be located in the same directory as the content file.

- Create the speedfile ONLY when the content file IS FINISHED AND TESTED !
- Hit Refresh and you'll see the Speed Improvement.
- If you alter the cd.pet file after you've created the speedfile (cd.bin), things MIGHT go completely wrong, or the speedfile isn't taken in account.

So,
---

- Create the Speedfile as a Very last action before you start using the menu.
- NEVER change the speedfile (cd.bin), nor the contentfile (cd.pet), after the speedfile is created.

Have fun !
