    { Disk Distributors, please put this next paragraph in your Catalog }
    { there is also a shorter description in file FILE_ID.DIZ on Disk 1 }

PAYROLL CANADA is probably the most comprehensive Canadian payroll system on
the ShareWare market. It is also better than most commercial payrolls. Handles
from 1 to 2,000 employees in ANY Province or Territory of Canada except
Quebec. It interfaces to ANY Accounting System (even manual bookkeeping). It
does EVERYTHING, maintain employee info., calculates pay and taxes, prints
cheques or payslips, cheque register, payroll register, summary journal, even
does PD7AR, T4, and the pay history table needed for the UIC ROE Form. Handles
taxes on Employee Benefit Plans. Can also export files to Lotus, Quattro,
dBASE, etc. Also handles multiple pay frequencies, and Accountants doing
client payroll will appreciate its ability to handle multiple employee files.
Complete documentation on disk ready to print out. Needs 355K memory and a
hard disk. Runs on IBM XT, AT, PS/2, and 286/386/486 compatibles. If you are
looking for payroll you MUST try this one. Optional extra cost add ons are
available for: Cheque Reconciliation, and an interface to "The General Store"
point of sale system.

                ************************************

We also have an equivalent U.S. Payroll System PAYROLL USA. Contact us if you
have a need for it.

BBS SYSOPS
----------

How you post them on your board depends largely on personal preferences and
how much time your users are allowed to download a file. They could be in one
large ZIP file, PAYCAN40.ZIP, containing the entire contents of our
distribution diskette zipped into one file, with the FILE_ID.DIZ description
visible in your download directory, example:

PAYCAN40.ZIP PAYROLL CANADA V4.02 Rel 2/95. 2 x 360K DISKS
The best payroll system on the market for the
IBM PC XT and 286/386/486 compatibles running
DOS. Includes PIF and ICO files for start up
from Windows 3.1 if you have it (but windows
is not required). Very complete payroll for
all sizes of company, lots of features, works
in any Province (except Quebec). Can handle
multiple files (good for multi-client payroll
prep. services). Calc. pay and taxes, prints
cheques (or pay slips), T4, PD7AR, & internal
reports. Use with any accounting system.
Requires hard drive and dot matrix or laser
              printer.

or if you prefer to split it into 2 smaller ZIP files you might want to use
our supplied 2DISKSET.BAT to create two 360K diskettes then zip each 360K
diskette into PAYCN401.ZIP and PAYCN402.ZIP then post them with a modified
FILE_ID.DIZ description for each, or with the PAYCN40.TXT information file and
a one liner description such as:

PAYCN40.TXT PAYROLL CANADA V4.02 DOWNLOAD INFO. AT 2/95
PAYCN401.ZIP PAYROLL CANADA V4.02 DISK 1 OF 2 RELEASED 2/95
PAYCN402.ZIP PAYROLL CANADA V4.02 DISK 2 OF 2 RELEASED 2/95

Either way please do not unzip our zips and repack them, just create a big zip
with our zips, our install, and our other files inside of your zip. (If you
wish to unzip our zips for testing or virus checking do not re-zip the
unpacked files, just delete them when you are done testing and create your
distribution zip(s) only from our supplied diskette).

Our install.exe does not care if our zips are on one diskette or two, or even
if they are on a hard drive, but we do require that the end user have access
to our install so that our zips are finally unpacked onto our standard
directory names for ease of telephone support and upgrades.

It will take about one hour to download both disks at 2400 baud (half an hour
each), or about 15 minutes total at 9600 baud. Proportionately less at higher
speeds. It is a big download but it will be worthwhile.

DISKETTE VENDORS
----------------

If you received it direct from us Payroll CANADA will be on one 3 1/2 inch low
density (720K) disk so it can be installed on older computers that have low
density drives. The low density disk is also readable "as is" by high density
3 1/2 inch drives. It can also easily be copied to high density 5 1/4 inch 1.2
meg or 3 1/2 inch 1.44 meg disks with DOS COPY *.* or XCOPY *.* to a pre-
formatted high density disk of the required size. Those vendors still selling
low density 5 1/4 inch 360K disks can split our distribution disk using our
supplied 2DISKSET.BAT file. If you add your own start up program it must start
our INSTALL.EXE (which will be on disk 1 of a 2 disk set). If you need more
space for your own vendor distribution files delete SCRAMBLE.EXE (31664 bytes)
which is a data encryption program that is not essential to the running of
PAYROLL CANADA (its use is optional). Do not delete anything else.

As long as all files are present, our INSTALL.EXE does not care whether it is
one or two diskettes or whether they are low or high density.

DO NOT install or otherwise expand all the component zips (PAYCN40a.zip,
PAYCN40b.zip PAYCN40c.zip etc.) then re-pack them for distribution in some
different order or with different names. Our install.exe depends on finding
our file names in the original zip file names we gave them. It makes it
simpler for the end user to install the registered user version and annual
upgrades if the unzipped shareware version is on a known directory (which our
install uses - \PAYPGMS for the working programs and \PAYSLIDE for the slide
show).

INSTALLATION FROM DISKETTES
---------------------------

If you received the two diskettes, put disk 1 in drive A and type

A:
CD \
INSTALL

then insert disk 2 when prompted. If using drive B to install then simply
substitute B: for the A: in the above instructions. If install finds that all
files are on one diskette you will not be prompted for a second diskette.

INSTALLATION FROM MODEM DOWNLOADS
---------------------------------

If you downloaded the disks over your modem as two large ZIP or ARC etc. files
then they must be unpacked first onto whichever directory you use to test
downloads, or onto diskettes. They can both be unpacked onto the same disk or
directory. Once unpacked make that directory the active directory and run the
INSTALL program, it will do the rest for you. (You will be unzipping the
file(s) you downloaded to reconstitute what would have been on a distribution
diskette, then INSTALL will be unzipping that onto the final working
directories. You can delete the contents of the intermediate directory
containing INSTALL.EXE after installation is complete)

If you experience any difficulty with the INSTALL program you may install the
files manually. The DOS commands to do this (assuming your hard disk is drive
C and you unpacked the two large ZIP or ARC files onto a directory called
\DOWNLOAD) would be:

C:
MD \PAYSLIDE
CD \PAYSLIDE
COPY \DOWNLOAD\PKUNZIP.EXE
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\PAYCN40A
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\PAYCN40B
DELETE PKUNZIP.EXE
MD \PAYPGMS
CD \PAYPGMS
COPY \DOWNLOAD\PKUNZIP.EXE
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\PAYCN40C
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\PAYCN40D
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\PAYCN40E
PKUNZIP \DOWNLOAD\TESTDATA
DELETE PKUNZIP.EXE

RUNNING PAYROLL CANADA
-------------------

Decompressing the ZIP files is a one time job. It need never be done a second
time. Once decompressed, whether manually or by the INSTALL.EXE program, you
can run the component programs as follows:

To use the PAYROLL CANADA system:

      C:
      CD \PAYPGMS
      PAYMENU

The Slide Show was last updated April, 1990. It is rather dated and in 1994
has been replaced by the new 31 page PAYROLL CANADA instruction manual
PAYROLL.DOC which can be displayed or printed from the PAYMENU.EXE start up
menu choice "F3 READ OR PRINT DOCUMENTATION & REGISTRATION INFO". It contains
all most users need to know in a much more compact and up to date form than
the old slide show. We are, however, retaining the Slide Show for now as a
reference source should you need it.

      To see the Slide Show

      C:
      CD \PAYSLIDE
      RUNSLIDE

or select choice "F4 SEE OR PRINT THE PAYROLL CANADA SLIDE SHOW" from the
PAYMENU.EXE start up menu

DELETING THE INSTALLED PROGRAMS
-------------------------------

If you decide PAYROLL CANADA is not for you and you wish to recover the disk
space it occupies then (assuming it is installed on Drive C):

C:                 { or whichever drive it was installed to }
ERASE \PAYPGMS
ERASE \PAYSLIDE
ERASE \PAYIN       { \PAYIN and \PAYOUT are default data directories, your }
ERASE \PAYOUT      { employee data is here, be certain you want to erase it }
RD \PAYPGMS
RD \PAYSLIDE
RD \PAYIN
RD \PAYOUT

HAVE FUN !!! Don't forget to pay us your registration fee if you decide to
continue usage of PAYROLL CANADA beyond the 60 day evaluation period.
