TITLE: MicroFocus Cobol DOCUMENT #: TB.S.3-133 DATE: April 4, 1991 PRODUCT: Access Server PRODUCT VERSION: All SUPERSEDES: Those portions of Note 3-120 dealing with MicroFocus Cobol SYMPTOM: Failure to run a MicroFocus Cobol application or hanging when running a MicroFocus Cobol application. ISSUE/PROBLEM MicroFocus Cobol applications do not run properly on Access Server unless properly configured. SOLUTION MicroFocus Cobol applications can run on an Access Server but only with slight modifications to MicroFocus Cobol to take in to account the fact that Access Server Applications run in protected mode. For a Runtime System The MicroFocus default is a bound executable which checks to see if it is running in protected mode and if it is assumes that it should be OS2. As Access Server is protected mode but not OS2 you must run the MicroFocus runtime system unbound. In order to do this: - Change the name of RUN.EXE to something else and save. - Change the name of RUN.DLE to RUN.EXE If using BUILD Use the /r parameter to create a real mode executable.
