I've been interested in information services for over 20 years and was directly involved in the development of the world's largest information service. My concern in the early days was that the service was somewhat limited; it didn't have the capability of delivering images very well, there was no audio and I always felt that for the service to achieve wide distribution it would have to come much closer to the common denominator that we all relate to, which is television. CD ROM allows us to take a major step in that direction. Because of its massive storage capability and, therefore, its bandwidth in delivering images to a personal computer, we can come a long way toward what information services will eventually become.
