CURRENT VERSION IS 1.6 NEW FEATURES: Version 1.5 CDUSER /k Toggles a drive light when CDROM access occures. /p:[seconds] Increases the packet recieve timeout. Version 1.4 CDUSER /x Tests the SPX connection. When there is a technical support problem with CDLINK: 1) Get the version. This can be done by typing CDUSER -v. 2) Get the DOS version. Have them type VER at the DOS prompt. 3) Version of Netware. 4) AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS 5) Find out if there is a bridge, brouter, or router installed. All these questions MUST be answered in order to determine the problem. Most frequent problems: 1 P) Receiving error 203 when attempting to load CDSERVER S) Version 1.4 fixes this problem. 2 P) CDUSER when trying to connect to a CDSERVER or when running CDUSER /D the machine appears to lock. S) Have them wait 15 minutes when CDUSER is in the "locked" state. If CDUSER returns to DOS and reports the server could not be found, have them re-run CDSETUP and edit the network addresses. The reason for this is: Netware will take at least 30 seconds per invalid network address entry. Since there are 12 entries in CDSETUP, with 2 broadcasts per entry the total timeout may be around 12 minutes. If they don't know the network addresses on the network, have them find the person who set it up. Other terms for network addresses are: segment, network, subnet. Make sure they have version 1.4 or greater. 3 P) CDUSER cannot find any CDSERVERS S) Make sure they have version 1.4 or greater 4 P) When trying to access a CDROM drive the connection dies or they recieve a message containing the message 'Abort, Retry ...' every time they connect. S) This could be due to SPX connection failures. Have them load CDSERVER and make a connection with CDUSER. Before accessing the drive have them run CDUSER /x. If SPX connections are failing, it will report this. The course of action is to contact the person who setup or maintains the network or call Novell. If SPX connections appear to be OK make sure they provide the information above for both CDUSER and CDSERVER. CDUSER /x is undocumented and used only for testing purposes and is only in versions 1.4 and up. 5 P) CDUSER works with some CDs and not others. S) The CD may not allow a CD to be shared. Have them provide the name, date, and publisher of the CD. 6) P) Copy and xcopy do not work. S) Use version 1.5 or greater. 7) P) CDUSER works most of the time but they recieve the message 'CD-Server not responding' now and again. S) Have them increase the packet timeout with version 1.5 by adding the switch /p:20 to CDUSER.
