Magnum from Arkenstone _ Because keeping track of your
busy schedule is a big job . . .
"I wonder where I've put my notes from that workshop?"

Magnum . . . You need to keep an agenda, collect phone
numbers and addresses, and save notes and reminders.
You might want a better way to access reference books,
or just read a novel.  But an impairment can make
keeping track a difficult process.  Now development
partners Arkenstone and VisuAide have created an
exciting new solution.

A better "tape" recorder

Magnum is a tape recorder with a difference -- no tape!
With a tape recorder, speech is recorded sequentially,
making it difficult to retrieve what you want.  But with
Magnum, speech is recorded and stored digitally onto a
computer floppy disk, allowing you to organize your
recordings by subject, date, name or any other method
you would like. You'll be able to find your entries
quickly and easily, using just two keys _ and without
listening to hours of messages.  Each floppy disk stores
about 45 minutes of digitized speech.

Magnum has standard tape recorder keys _ Play, Record,
Stop, Fast Forward and Rewind _ making it familiar and
easy to learn.  Skip through your messages using Fast
Forward and Rewind.  For more advanced functions, use
Magnum's keypad.

If you can use a tape recorder, you can use Magnum!

The Digital Recorder Advantage

Because Magnum records digitally, you can insert new
speech without erasing information already that's
recorded, erase speech without losing any space, and cut
and paste speech blocks.  There's even a search mode.
Try that with a tape recorder!

What if you want to hear a message played back at a
faster speed than you originally recorded it?  No
problem.  Magnum lets you listen to your notes at up to 4
times the original speed.

With Magnum's automatic Table of Contents, you can find
the entry you want, then skip directly to it.  Magnum's
convenient Marker feature lets you place thousands of
markers at selected locations in your entries.  Use
markers to locate a favorite passage in a book, find the
appendix on page 57, listen just to the part of the
lecture you need to review _  it's all possible with
Magnum.

Use Magnum's markers to save a place in your book, and
won't have to search for it later!

Get Organized!

But magnum does more than just take notes or play back
books.  magnum's Applications section features an address
book, personal calendar, and calculator, making magnum a
speech-driven Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).  The
address book has fields for name, address, telephone, FAX
and even notes.  magnum's agenda features a variety of
styles, and allows day, time or fixed event entries.
Both features have search modes and both allow you to
copy, move or erase entries.

In magnum's Tools section, you can access the clock and
the calculator.  The Settings section permits you to
personalize magnum.  Select the speech rate, volume,
tone, language, and type of warning beep that suits your
needs.
