8 MB Ram 10 MB Hard Disk Space WebBrowser installed To run your shop on line your server must have a CGI BIN or CGI execution rights. If you do not have these you will find service providers at 3Dcubed who can help at http://www.3d3.com/hosting.htm To install your shop on your server you need telnet access or your service provider must configure your cgi shopping script for you. This is a once only occurrence and usually takes only a few minutes with the supplied configure program (see below). [Optional] VRMLBrowser SGI Cosmo Player 1.0 recommended. Shop Wizards are subject to the terms detailed in the license agreement accompanying them.
If you have downloaded the zip file, you will have to manually unzip the file to install it. We recommend Winzip for installation. Open the file with Winzip, click on the Install button and follow instructions. Otherwise double-click on the setup.exe file to start the installation.
'Create Internet Shop Files' button on the toolbar. If you have not filled in your details such as address, you will be asked to do so. Say yes or no, depending on your choice. A new window will appear, Click 'Options' Simply provide your 'Host Name', 'User ID', 'Password' and 'Destination Directory'. Click OK. Click "Create Internet Files" When finished, click 'Upload' and the files will be automatically uploaded. If your browser does not automatically launch your modem make sure you are connected before clicking on the Upload button. After the upload and before you run your shop for the first time, you must install the CGI script on your server. This only needs to be done once. All the files required have already been included in the upload. All you have to do is telnet to your account, go to the directory to which you have uploaded your shop and type "perl configure". If you do not have telnet access, ask your service provider to help you install the program. This is a once only requirement - from then on you should not have to install your shop again. Many virtual servers now have CGI BINS. Not all service providers offer telnet, but most should be willing to install your cgi script for you. The Telnet program is provided with Windows 95. Simply click on the Telnet icon in your ShopWizard Start-up folder (Start button, Program files, ShopWizard). Select 'Remote System ...' from the 'Connect' menu, a window will appear type in the 'Host Name' of your server and click 'Connect'. You will be asked for your User ID and Password to login to your account enter these and then change to the 'Destination Directory' you entered in Shop Wizard 3D. (to do this use the 'cd' command eg, 'cd MyShop'. Use 'ls' to list directories.) Type the following : perl configure You may be asked to choose the location of sendmail, ask your Internet Service Provider for help if you are unsure about your choice. You will be asked if you wish to use PGP. PGP is an encryption that will make the email orders sent to you more secure. If you have not setup PGP or are unsure about it's installation on your server ask your Internet Service Provider for help. However this is an optional feature and not required to run your shop. You will be asked if the search path to your shop files is correct. In most cases this will be correct, so just answer Y for yes. However if your search funtion does not work, simply run configure again and change the path for the search.
You will be asked to enter the base URL for your shop eg, http://www.company.com/MyShop/
Type logout and exit windows telnet. That's it, you can now type the URL of your shop in your web browser to start shopping eg, http://www.company.com/MyShop/web_store.cgi Here is an example of what running "perl configure" looks like:
3d3: {9} % perl configure
What is the base URL for your shop (eg http://www.company.com/MyShop/):
When you perl configure your shop on the Internet more than once, the configure program will complain at the end that a file can not be created because it already exists. This is normal and no cause for alarm. You can run configure as many times as you like, but once should normally be enough. You do not have to run configure again when you update your shop.
