Pilot Secrets Version: 1.0 IMPORTANT NOTE: ********************* IF YOU HAVE A VERSION 0.9B (not 0.95B) YOU MUST DELETE IT BEFORE INSTALLING THIS NEW VERSION 0.9B data is not compatible with 0.95B or 1.0 ********************* Introduction: ============= This program will help you keep those prying eyes out of your personal data. I have written this program because of the security problem with the Pilot: Any records marked secret on the Pilot can easily be read with any binary editor on the PC. Data that is encrypted with this program can only be decrypted with the password it was encrypted with. Limits for Shareware version: ============================= The shareware version has two limits: - Maximum number of records is 5 - Annoying Registration reminder Changes: ======== Version 1.0: -Added list view -Fixed error on delete record -Added registration program Version 0.95B: -Increased record size to 4096 -Added New and Delete buttons -Show register message less often -Better encryption logic -Added program icon -Added scroll capability to data Version 0.9B: -Initial Version Instructions: ============= Password Suggestions: - use long passwords - include numbers and symbols - use mixed case passwords - do not use the same password as you use to lock your Pilot; if the Pilot Desktop can get that password I'm sure others can as well No encryption is perfect. However, if you use long and mixed passwords this encryption is very secure. List View: Menu: Record Edit - Edit the current selected record in the database New - Create a new record in the database Delete - Delete the current selected record from the database Help About - Display the program about dialog Edit View: Menu: Edit Copy - Copy the currently marked text to the pilot clipboard Paste - Paste the text from the pilot clipboard into the current field Help About - Display the program about dialog Buttons: Done - Save record and close the Edit view Encrypt - Encrypt the data in the data field using the password in the password field Decrypt - Decrypt the data in the data field using the password in the password field Clear password - Clear the password field General: On the List View: Select the record to work with then the menu option. The record can also be quickly accessed by double clicking on it. On the Edit View: Enter your data into the data field. Then enter a password and press the Encrypt button. DO NOT forget your password, there is no way to retrieve the data without it. The first line of the data is not encrypted so that you can use it title your data.
