Release History 5. Acknowledgements 6. Known Bugs +--------------------------------------+ | 1. Intro | +--------------------------------------+ Welcome to the Alpha 1 version of Kanji Hanabi for Pilot! Kanji Hanabi Alpha 1 is a prerelease version of a Japanese Kanji learning aid for your Pilot. Please send me email at sam@neth.com if you discover bugs in the program, or if you have ideas for future enhancements of Kanji Hanabi. I think Kanji Hanabi for Pilot will be shareware, with the unregistered version being restricted to the first grade or two or three. I don't hope to make a fortune from it, but creating bitmaps for almost 1000 kanji is time consuming, and I have to pay for all my broken Pilot screens. I haven't determined yet what the price will be, however, so if you have any advice for me in this area, please offer. Kanji Hanabi for Pilot can be installed on your Pilot the same way that any other add-on application is installed. If you need instructions, please try http://www.pilot.org/pinstall.htm. +--------------------------------------+ | 2. Features of Kanji Hanabi | +--------------------------------------+ Kanji Hanabi Alpha 1 shows you a picture of one of the 76 first grade kanji, and give you a choice of four meanings. Your score is displayed, indicating how many kanji you have been shown, and how many meanings you have guessed correctly. Kanji Hanabi remembers which kanji you don't know very well, and shows them to you more frequently, to force you to learn all of them. Thank you for using Kanji Hanabi! +--------------------------------------+ | 3. Future Enhancements | +--------------------------------------+ I plan to significantly enhance Kanji Hanabi. These are some of the larger enhancements I am considering. - Save current score and kanji knowledge when you switch to another Pilot application. Continue where you left off when you return. - Clear score, kanji knowledge, or both. - Include the 996 kanji in grades 1-6. - Include all of the 1900-something general use kanji. - Include kanji readings, as an alternative to meaning. - Add vocabulary practice. - Timed drills. Please send me feedback so that I can incorporate your ideas. +--------------------------------------+ | 4.
