Lotry version 1.1 - Copyright 1995 Shaun Trevor ----------------------------------------------- A Lottery Predictor for the Psion Series 3/3a computer. The program uses a sophisticated statistical technique to analyse the results of previous draws in an attempt to predict the following weeks draw. The software uses the law of averages and the hot-number system with a semi-random twist to try and give the best chance of success. This computer program is protected by copyright law & international treaties. Any reproduction, distribution or use of this program or any portion of it, must comply with the terms of this license agreement. Installation. ------------- The program is installed in the same manner as other series 3/3a applications. - copy the file Lotry3.APP (if you have a Psion series 3) or Lotry3a.APP if you have a Psion series 3a) to an \APP directory on any drive. - copy the file LOT.DAT (whatever machine) to your \OPD directory on your machines INTERNAL drive M:\ - Install the program by using PSION-I and navigating your way to the Lotry3 or Lotry3a application file and pressing . Users of Lotry v1.0 should read History. Quick Instructions. ------------------- When the program is run the program will display a message requesting the result of the draw on a certain date. If a forecast is made the computer will forecast the result of that weeks draw. If that draw has already been made use the 'Update' option to enter the result of that draw. Continue entering data until the computer indicates that it requires the result of the next draw. You can then use the 'Forecast results' option to get the computer to calculate its selections. Also available is the 'Random nos.' option which will generate six completely random selections for you, if this is what you want. Registration & License Agreement. --------------------------------- This software is shareware and is such is freely distributable as long as this document file is included with the program. By using this program you agree that if after a period not exceeding 28 days you still wish to use this program you will register its use with me, the copyright owner (see below for how to register). In return for registering I will send you a code which when entered into the Registration screen of the program will unlock some extra features only available to registered users, it will also disable those annoying nag screens. A period of 28 days should give you long enough to evaluate the program and to decide whether you wish to continue to use it. To register send a letter to me quoting "Ref: Lotry v1.0" and stating from where you received your copy of this program, enclosing a cheque for either 5 (5 UKP) or $10 made payable to Mr S Trevor. Please ensure that your address is clearly legible so that I can send you the access code. Please send to Mr S Trevor, 138 Greenlee Garth, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, DL5 7EX, England. By their very nature computer programs are very complex things and are rarely completely bug free. You use this program at your own risk and I am not to be held responsible for any damage to other software or information held on your computer which may be corrupted through use of this program. Extra features gained by Registration. -------------------------------------- - no more annoying nag screens - access to the Lotry ticket screen which means that any predicted numbers or your own lucky numbers can be stored and checked automatically each week when you update the computer with the draws results. - access to the Adjust wts section of the program which allows you to fine tune the way the software predicts numbers to meet your own thoughts/observations on the way the draw is working. (See also Tailoring the Forecast) - Plot menu plots all 6 columns enabling detailed study of previous results. - Ability to adjust draw ranges narrowing the programs selection field considerably for only a marginal reduction in the hit rate. (See Tailoring the Forecast) Menu Options ------------ FILE Menu --------- New File (Psion-N) - This deletes any data on previous draw results and starts again requesting data for the first draw. This is useful if you wish to use the software to predict other 49 number draws (eg. North American Lottery). If you do not have data this far back you can use the 'Skip week' option to increment by 1 week without entering any data. NB The program will hang if you try and forecast results without entering at least 1 weeks results. sKip week (Psion-K) - Increments the timer by 1 week without having to enter any draw result (see note above). About this prog (Psion-A) - Displays an information screen with details of the software version etc. reGister program (Psion-G) - Displays a requester in which you can enter your registration details. Upon registration you will be sent a sequence of five numbers, these are entered on this screen. eXit (Psion-X) - saves any new draw results and quits the program. OPTIONS Menu ------------ Update (Psion-U) - Displays a requester into which you enter the results of the draw for the week indicated on the main screen. Double check the details before pressing as incorrect numbers will adversely affect the programs ability to accurately forecast results. Draw stats (Psion-D) - Displays the results of the most recent four draws, most recent first, and the ratio of odd/even numbers and low/high (high being greater than 24) drawn to date. Forecast results (Psion-F) - Using all previous draw results stored, the software makes a prediction of the result of the next lottery draw. Please note this is a complex procedure and may take a few seconds to complete all of the calculations. When the results are displayed registered users can press the key and choose which board (A-E) to store the results on for automatic checking when the results are known. Note for registered users - A requester will ask whether Ranges are to be calculated Automatically or Manually. Selecting Automatically will result in the forecast proceeding as normal. Selecting Manual will present a requester with the automatically calculated figures. Just enter new figures to narrow the range as required. (See also Tailoring the Forecast) Random nos. (Psion-R) - Selects six completely random numbers for you to use. (Registered users only) These can also be stored for automatic checking as detailed above. Show Ticket (Psion-S) - (Registered users only) Displays any previously stored boards on your lottery ticket. Each ticket has 5 boards labelled A to E. A sub menu is available as detailed below: - Add (Psion-A) - Allows you to enter your own sequence of numbers, so that they can be automatically checked for you (these could be based on Birthdays etc), the computer can check these numbers for a period of between 1 and 8 weeks. - Delete (Psion-D) - Deletes the contents of a specified board from memory, these numbers will no longer be checked. - Update (Psion-U) - Allows you to adjust the contents of a stored board, any selection can be altered as can the number of weeks the board is checked for. - eXit (Psion-X) - Quits this sub-menu and returns to the programs main menu screen. adjust Wts (Psion-W) - (Registered users only) This displays a screen with various parameters which can be altered to suit your own thoughts/observations on the way the results are happening. eg. If numbers appear to be repeating every two weeks a bias can be applied to numbers who appeared two weeks previously giving these numbers a better chance of appearing in the forecast. (See Tailoring the Forecast ).Fuller details of this menu item and how to use it will be sent with registration. Plot freq (PSION-P) - (Registered users only for Columns 2-6) Gives a choice of graphs of either Frequency distribution which graphs all previous results or a graph of Columns of draw results 1-6. Note the small bar top left of the graph, this bar shows scale and is equivalent to 1 unit (ie. a ball of that number being drawn only once to date). (see also Tailoring the Forecast) History ------- Changes in this version from v1.0 - Error in draw data file LOT.DAT now contains corrected data for draw Wk2 31 drawn not 32. This file should replace your previous copy of the file. Now contains results of all draws to 18/3/95 inclusive. - Alter Wts menu now stores any alterations to weighting figures for future use without having you enter them each time you run the program. - Plot menu added giving the ability to view in graph form the frequency distribution of all numbers previously drawn. Graphs can also be plotted for each of the six columns of results aiding in the narrowing down of selections in the forecasting process. (NB. Columns 2-6 are only available to registered users, Column 1 being available as a taster of this facility, see also Tailoring the Forecast) - The ability to narrow the forecasting ranges for each of the columns. For a typical narrowing, 90% of hits can still be attained narrowing the selection field by 1/3rd. (NB. This feature is available to registered users only, See also Tailoring the Forecast) Tailoring the Forecast --------------------- NB To tailor the software effectively you need to register your copy of this program (many of the features detailed below are only available to registered users) If we examine a weeks draw with these results: 16 20 6 31 30 47 Bonus 4 The first thing we do is to sort them into numerical order ignoring the bonus number. The result is: 6 16 20 30 31 47 If we examine the following 5 wks sorted results: 9 17 32 36 42 44 2 5 21 22 25 32 7 17 23 32 38 42 6 16 20 30 31 47 4 16 25 26 31 43 1 2 3 4 5 6 Column number If we examine column 2 we can see that it ranges from 5 to 17. We can also not that 17 repeated 2 wks later, and 16 repeated the week after. We can alter the weightings applied in the following ways - there are several repeats of numbers (hot-numbers) so we can increase the 'Each app' rating to direct the software to pick a higher rate of hot-numbers. - numbers tend to repeat in each column in the following week, with fewer repeating after this period. We can therefore increase the '1 wk prev' figure and also a slight increase in the '2 wks prev' figure may also help the program to target the correct numbers. We can also adjust the ranges manually, so that for example column 2 selects numbers in the range 10-17 narrowing the selection field by 5 numbers and risking very little (only 1 previous result has been this low) The best way to adjust ranges is to look at the graphs for each of the columns and select a range which includes most of the results ignoring any not in the main bunch of numbers. This effectively targets the software into the right range of numbers. It can also be seen that in the whole table there are 13 odd numbers and 17 even numbers; 14 low and 16 high. We can test run the program to see what ratio it is selecting odd/even hi/lows in and adjust the 'o/e h/l due' figure to gain the ratio we consider the draw will have. If these are out of sync as in odd/even, 13/17 above, a 5/1 result would even them up but this is unlikely and a 4/2 result is much more likely. Try to keep away from extreme figures here and test run the software to ensure it is not doing anything unrealistic like selecting 6 odd numbers repeatedly. The bias should mostly select in the ratio 4/2 with the odd 5/1 being OK. It should also be noted that a 5 wk period is nowhere near a long enough period to study. You should in particular make use of the graphs to aid in your study of results.
