I like the ability to have a password on my Psion,
it makes it more likely that the machine will be
returned if it is lost. Unfortunately the in-built
password mechanism forces you to retype your
password every time the machine is turned on, this
can work out at hundreds of times a day!

What I wanted was to have a password that I have to
type in first thing in the morning but only once
a day. That is what this software provides.

The program depends on the excelent macro system
from Tom Dolbilin, so will only work on the 3A. If
you have a Psion 3A you ought to have this
excelent package installed. This software requires
at least Macro 2.0.

Installation
************

To run this program you must already have the
Macro system installed.

Copy the following files

    pason.opa to M:\app\pason.opa
    pason.mco to M:\macro\mco\pason.mco

Then install the Pason application on the System
screen using <Psion-I>. Now we are ready to start
the program using <Enter> on the application.

When the application starts it will give a dialog.
Put your current password in as the password and
a suitable time of day to activate it. I use
2:30am as a good time to turn the paasword on.

Once this is done the application is running, you
will see a message telling you the number of
seconds till the program sets your password.

To add security I would recommend that you now
remove the application from the System screen via
<Psion-/>. When you change your password you must
select the running program and stop the
application using <Psion-Esc> then restart it with
the new password. The "Tasklist" macro written by
Tom Dolbilin is a good way to get to the Pason
screen.

Why install on the Internal Disk?
*********************************

While the program should work if you copy the
files to A: or B: the fact that M: cannot be
removed makes it more secure. I have run the
program from A: but it has only been fully tested
running on the internal disk.
