Graphic Displays [A_TART] A_Tartan (Russell, Jim; $0) generates a small swatch of tartan plaid, which can be saved as a bitmap and used as wallpaper. It weaves the design on screen from a description you provide. Several sample files are included. VBRUN is required. [ADVNTCL] Advent Calendar (Gyugyi, Paul; $0-$10) is a beautifully done Advent calendar for Windows 3. The three scenes included are a winter scene, an indoor Christmas Tree scene, and a manger scene. As you open each window with the mouse, a new item is added to the picture. [FACEMKR] Face*Maker 1.0 (Page, Alan; $0) lets you generate a variety of faces from a library of eyes, noses, mouths, hair, and head shapes. You can add text captions and print out the pictures or copy the bitmapped image to the Clipboard for importing into other programs. This is a lot of fun for both kids and grownups. [SCARE] Scare (Mike Murphy, reg. fee: $1) displays scary Halloween images with sounds on your desktop. It runs in the background and has sound card support. Requires VBRUN300. [TERMINAT] Terminator (New World Software; $0) is a useless but fun application that puts a picture of everyone's favorite cyborg in a window. Pressing the "I'll Be Back" button causes the terminator to say just that. The picture then vanishes for a user-specified interval, only to relentlessly return again and again. (This disk includes Aaron Wallace's SOUNDER program, which requires a $2 registration fee.) [XXMAS] XXMAS (reg. fee: $0) displays a colorful Christmas tree on your screen and lists the number of days left until Christmas. Good for kids counting down to the big day! -----Startup Screen Utilities [LOGOGO] Logogo 3.1b (Dick Koster, reg. fee: $6) allows you to keep multiple startup logo graphics in a ZIP file and have a new one come up every time you start Windows. Requires PKZIP/UNZIP. [NEWSTRT] NewStart 1.04 (Mote Prime BBS; $0) lets you change the screen displayed when Windows starts. Several graphics files are included, or you can use your own RLE files. [STRTRLE] Startup (December Rose Publications; $0) is a batch file that creates a new WIN.COM with the RLE graphic of your choice. You will need a graphic utility that can create RLE files (like Paint Shop on disk #3388). This is a really easy process, and detailed instructions and three sample files are included. [SUS] StartupScreen 3.2 (Checkbox Software; $0) lets you replace the Microsoft startup screen in Windows with a screen of your own design or choosing. Other features include a BMP file viewer and the ability to install RLE graphic files as Wallpaper. VBRUN is required. [SWAP201] StartupSwapper Deluxe 2.01 (Checkbox Software; $30) displays a different startup screen each time you start Windows. It randomly selects a new RLE file from a specified directory. Installation is very easy, and several sample graphic files are included. Requires WIN31 and VGA. VBRUN200 is included. [WCHANGE] Win Change 4.0 is a utility designed to change the startup Windows RLE with one of your choice. (G. L.
