If you are using a modem in your office and sound level is a concern, be aware that there are 2 modem commands that affect the sound level. They may be placed in the INIT string of your communication program to be executed every time you use the comm program, or they can be typed at the Comm Command mode. The first parameter will enable or disable the speaker completely. There are several different settings, basically, M0 sets the speaker off (quiet) and M1 sets it on while it dials until you connect... You may embed the M0 or M1 (M1 is usually the default) in the INIT string or enter command/terminal mode and type ATM0 or ATM1. The second hayes command is L1 or L2 or L3. They affect the loudness of the speaker. If the speaker is turned off with M0, these have no affect. When the speaker is turned on, L1 is the softest and L3 the loudest. Again, you can imbed these strings into your INIT string or type ATL1 etc...
