WORDSTAR vs. CANON (NCR, etc.) When I tried to get Wordstar and the Canon printers working together, I always had a 'page ending' problem. The Canon is set for 62 lines a page. I didn't want to change the DIABLO 630 mode and I didn't want to play with dip switches on the printer because I use it with other programs without a hitch. After calling CANON (who tried very hard) and MICROPRO ('we don't have that information'), I worked this out. After reading the following, I would appreciate hearing from those of you who have got a more elegant approach. (Like, where we don't get a blank page at the beginning of every Print Job). In Winstall: Printer Menu: make sure printer is DIABLO 630 Wordstar Features section: change the Number of lines/page to 82 change the Top Margin to 3 change the Bottom Margin to 26 change the Form Feed default to ON Custom Installization section: change the Initialization string to 1bh dh 50h change the Deinit string to the same as the Initialization string NOTE: It's very important to activate the "form feed" command. If your version of Wordstar doesn't have a "form feed ON" option in the "Features" section... You can either say "yes" to form feeds every time you use the Print command or, you'll have to change it through the "back door". At the "Installation Menu" of Winstall, hit "+", then when it asks you for an address: ":PODBLK+1" It'll show you a bunch of stuff starting either with "FF" or "00". That's what you want. you need to change it to "FF". (If it alreay is FF, you don't have to do anything.) Probably the page length numbers can be changed, as long as they end up in the right proportions (whatever that may be). My 'quest for knowledge' disappears when something functions. Nina E.
