SAN DIEGO, Sept. 21, 1992 - Network Security Systems, Inc., (NSSI) today
introduced LanSafe II, the first network power management software that
provides a totally integrated approach for centrally managing electrical
power to all local and remote network components. Unlike existing systems
that only monitor uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) on servers, LanSafe
II provides interactive management and control of power management devices
on all key network components, including data and communications servers,
bridges, critical workstations and file servers.

The LanSafe II software takes a top-down approach to network power
management, the same approach that administrators already use to manage
the movement of data and applications over the network. At the highest
level, network administrators get one, quick look at the entire network to
see that all power protection components are working and to identify
potential power problems; at its most detailed level, administrators can
individually monitor, manage and configure every power protection node
from a central location, including remote sites.

"Companies of all sizes are becoming increasingly dependent on computer
networks for their most important business applications," said Bill
Humphreys, president of NSSI. "In this networked environment,

LanSafe II software is complemented by NSSI's line of intelligent UPSs,
including the newly announced IPS/A.I. 300 and 450 models for
workstations. These new models join the IPS/A.I. 600, 800 and 1200 models,
which protect servers and communication devices. Working together, NSSI's
intelligent UPSs with power management software LanSafe II, provides a
complete fault tolerant power system, which enhances network reliability
and data integrity.

The U.S. list price of the LanSafe II software for Novell networks,
available now, is $135 for new installations and $69 for customers
upgrading from LanSafe/A.I.+.

NSSI is recognized as the leading market innovator in network power
management. Its award-winning Intelligent Power Supply hardware and
LanSafe management software support Novell, OS/2, Windows, Lan Server, Lan
Manager, UNIX and other leading operating systems. For additional product
