ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES NEW NETMEDIA STARTER KIT

Packages LANtastic Network With Its Windows And Sound Software/Hardware For
All-In-One Solution

(TUCSON, AZ--September 22, 1992)--Artisoft, Inc. announced today that it
has begun shipping its new Artisoft NetMedia Starter Kit, an all-in-one
solution that provides users with a cost-effective business solution for
adding voice annotation to files, creating business presentations with an
ongoing voice commentary, and even communicating by voice via the network.
Priced at $849, the kit includes the LANtastic Network Operating System
(for up to 300 users), the LANtastic for Windows network utility, two
Artisoft AE-2 Ethernet adapters with coax cabling, two Sounding Board
adapters with telephone handsets and documentation. Available immediately,
these kits offer $347 savings on the total purchase price of the
individual products.

"In the past, business users have not taken sound seriously. But with
NetMedia technology, they will now be able to use their desktop PCs to
create and distribute documents via the network that integrate audio with
text and graphics," stated Dave Hallmen, Artisoft's Vice President of
Sales & Marketing.

The most important function of this all-in-one solution will be its voice
annotation capabilities. Users can record sound files, link or embed them
into Windows 3.1 documents and send them to other users on the network.
Presentations are as easy to create as recording a continuous voice
commentary and linking or embedding it into a Windows 3.1 document with
text and graphics. In addition, the Sounding Board adapter can be used to
create more complex presentations with Multimedia applications or within a
Multimedia environment.

The LANtastic network is recognized as the leader in peer-to-peer
networking for DOS and Windows environments and has won numerous industry
awards for its cost-effective features, performance and ease of use. It
allows up to 300 users of IBM-compatible computers to connect and share
information and peripheral devices such as printers, hard drives and
CD-ROMs.

The LANtastic for Windows network utility offers the same award-winning
features as the DOS version of the network, but with Windows pull-down
menus, icons and on-line help. It supports DDE so that Windows
applications can use LANtastic e-mail to exchange messages and transfer
data.

The Sounding Board adapter allows users to create digitally recorded sound
files which can be embedded in or linked to Windows 3.1 OLE or Multimedia
documents. An IBM-compatible expansion adapter, it has a telephone-style
handset that converts between audio/voice signals and a digital data
stream. Also sold separately ($99 for ISA bus, $199 for MicroChannel), it
can be added to any local area network to provide users with sound
capabilities.

Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of hardware and software for
local area networks including the LANtastic Local Area Network. Artisoft
distributes the LANtastic network and its other connectivity products in
over 70 countries worldwide and maintains international offices in the
Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America,
Australia and Japan.
