SurfaceView, a Three-Dimensional Surface Plotting-Package, Now Available
for LabVIEW for Windows

September 9, 1992 - Austin, TX - National Instruments (Austin, TX) and
Metric Systems (Round Rock, TX), a member of the National Instruments
Alliance Program, announced today SurfaceView for Windows, a new
three-dimensional plotting product for use with LabVIEW for Windows.
SurfaceView, available since February 1992 for LabVIEW for Macintosh, is
now available for the new LabVIEW for Windows. With SurfaceView, developed
by Metric Systems, LabVIEW users can represent data as a three-dimensional
wireframe surface. SurfaceView is a set of LabVIEW virtual instruments
(VIs) that can be integrated into LabVIEW applications so users can
produce surface plots within the LabVIEW environment.

Features of the SurfaceView package include control of viewpoint, color,
grids, and other parameters from the LabVIEW block diagram; modular
architecture for flexible and efficient integration into LabVIEW
applications; gridded data plotting on regular or irregular X and Y grids;
and faster plotting routines than most spreadsheet or graphing
applications. SurfaceView for Windows takes advantage of the new LabVIEW
for Windows features for specifying colors, and additional data type
handling.

"Based on our evaluation, we have decided to add SurfaceView for Windows to
our basic product software package delivered with our measurement
products," says Ken Liles, Director of Product Development for Apeiron
(Minneapolis, MN). Apeiron is beta testing SurfaceView for Windows as part
of its development of laser-based measurement products, which use LabVIEW
for Windows as a primary development language. "We found the SurfaceView
performance and flexibility excellent, and were extremely impressed with
its tight integration with our own LabVIEW applications. I recommend
SurfaceView for LabVIEW users needing 3D visualization capabilities," says
Liles.
